ERA649: No. But you can say we did and your car was better.

If the Cobra type replicas were never produced, the market for this type of car would not exist today...the Cobra would be a notable footnote in automobile history. Shelby is selling cars today because of the demand created by the replica builders... Yes/No??

Hope this clarifies things.

Well at least you admit it is a replica and it is NOT real.

Evan, I know why you have a hard spot with your car saying "kit" on the title and no one giving you the satisfaction of your car being real. Unlike the real Cobras of the 60's your car is worth much less than you paid for it. And you're kinda bitter about it and trying to up the prices by preaching about legal realism. Once we all agree to them being "REAL" maybe the value of your car will increase to close to what you paid for it. Until then you won't stop repeating yourself. That's a shame too since most of us unreal replica guys can get more for our cars than we have in them and I'm sure that doesn't sit well with you either. Have a good day.

Hi all

Your all wrong my Cobra is better than yours.

Whats it worth will be determined by who wants it and what they prepared to pay if I ever sell it.

My shares just went up and I have doubled my money. Not a bad investment. Perhaps better than a car, who knows.

Wouldn't mind seeing some photos under profile of the genuine CSX cars there - REAL1 etc - if possible.

This 'Thread' will go on for.............

Cheers

I started to buy some of that Carroll Shelby chili mix this weekend at the grocery store but, decided against it. That bag was only a replica of Carroll's original chili mix.

Evan,

I hope that you are just picking appropriate posts from threads gone by and copying them. I would hate to think that you are actually typing the same arguements over and over and over again.

To the orignal question:

For 42.5k I would buy as much of an ERA as I could.

Hi all

Does appear that way.

Must say I have read this somewhere before. Then again it has improved my understanding of the marque. Who knows I may never buy a magazine again.

Just read and looking here is fantastic.

Just keep 'Posting' those controversial 'Threads'.

I once read an article in Kit Car on a guy who walked up to the magazine journalist and said my name is............. "I built the 427's for Shelby".

This article ran over a few editions and I found it both interesting and informative from this guys point of view.

Think it was Andrew Capella of similiar???

My point again is keep Posting" the interesting Threads.

Cheers

Must get back to work.

Since I'm an avid bicyclist,I'll use a classic spoked wheel as my perception of the Industry as a whole.I think Shelby's cars will always be at the center, and rightfully so,the "hub"if you will. All the other manufacturers are at the end of the spokes(no nipple jokes, guys),and the rim is the client base for these cars revolving around the hub.The hub doesn't need the spokes or the rim to roll, but would never roll as far or as fast without them. The replica industry would have a pretty hard time going any one direction without the hub as reference to keep it true, and the bending or loss of a spoke causes a wobble to the whole market for the car is it readjusts. The really cool part is that the wheel just became even more high performance as the hub got lighter(new $42k CAV Cobra). It's an exciting time as the competition revs up again to bring even better and more reasonably priced cars to an expanding market. Now back to Machineman's original question-why did everyone choose there car over all others?

Evan,
You can't blame me it was worth a try. I saw you car a number of times and it is one of the the best looking cars around. But now I can't say it drives better then my ERA.

Evan: By your own definition, Shelby made a "replica" when he built the 427 Cobra. All he did was copy an AC car (with slight modifications.....which is the same thing a lot of "replica" companies do). ......Doesn't that mean that ALL Shelby Cobras are really nothing more than a "replica" (of an AC)??

Nuke427: What can I say except that you don't get it. As to value all I can tell you is that the some Shelbys that have been resold at public auction have gone for more than their original purchahse price. Has that happened with any BDRs?

In the end whether my car is worth more or less than its original purchase price is not why I bought it although it has gone up in value according to a very recent certified appraisal. It may go up even more in value in years to come but that speculation. Who knows.

I'm not trying to convince anyone here about what the Continuation CSX is or is not. Around here I wouldn't expect those that don't have Shelby's to agree with what I'm saying primarily out of sour grapes. Thats fine. But some have been fair enough and objective enough to understand and agree with what I am saying.

In the end all I know is that I have a Shelby Cobra parked in my garage you have a replica of one, and thats not an insult its just the facts.

Have a nice day!

Evan,
As an initial matter, JWheaton is almost never right , better not to agree with him.

Secondly, anyone know where I can get some of that chili mix? Seriously.

Those of you who are arguing about what is, and what is not a REAL Cobra are truly pathetic. Time to step away from the computer and back to reality.

No Evan, in the end all I know is that YOU and I have replicas of Shelby Cobras parked in our garage. Did you forget about our little definition training several weeks ago? Yes I know yours says "Shelby" legally, big deal, it's worth more, woohoo, but it's still a replica. You can't handle the truth!
