Well there is one other possible solution. Evan why don't you just go buy an original and put an end to all this sniping.

Bill,
You obviously haven't heard about Mrs Real 1, who runs the roost. Evan put in a special request for the last DVSF which was promptly denied. The only reason Evan keps the Mrs. away from any Gasholes is the pure fear that one of us will tell her what he REALLY paid for his car. I'll bet she'd find a new location for Menorah!

Dan, Iwas serious--seems like a good solution. Now, if this is his third Cobra; whats the difference to trade up for one more. It could be a 2000 series.

The menorah image was not that pleasant.

To pile on a litte to Ron's posts, I would love to own a "real" Shelby, but I am very content with my piecer....So what I have to say is not because I am envious of you or any other who owns one.

You are either purposely trying to stir the nest, or you are simply not capable of understanding how to relate to others. Even your online name is meant to push people's buttons. It's as if every thread you get involved with you a find a way to separate your choice from the rest, but not in a way that is respectful of others. I look back at the way you entered this thread, and it wasn't to share the good qualities of a Shelby, it was simply to state that Shelby shouldn't be in the list because it's not a replica. Fact? Sure. Did it need to be said? No. We can argue the meanings of simple words all day, but just as when someone asks if it is real that you can be assured they are asking is it an original, the question was simply to ask comparisons of all the manufacturers. You knew that. You chose to jump in and act like a flippin snob, and then people jumped on your ass and you try to act as if people are out to get you. C'mon, think. Your posts are inteligent, yet lack social graces. The best communicators are those who can blend both, and in the end, they tend to be the folks who have stronger friendships. It's the same as a guy out here in the NW who puts a sign next to his SPF and says "This is NOT a kit". It pisses people off big time. Truthful, yes. It's not a kit. But that person is trying to trick people into believing the car is somehow original....And that is just how you come off in nearly every thread you post in related to this subject. Look in the mirror man.

By the way, I mean no offense, but I felt it was time to say something, as this sort of thing just needs to stop....

Hey if you don't want to talk about it don't.

If you want to just hear yourselves talk about it and just hear from everyone that agrees with each other, thats fine. I won't respond. Most threads should stay pretty short that way.

You all make it sound like I just bring this subject up. You make it sound like I'm a snob because I'm discussing this subject in the the stream of a thread on the topic.

I guess in order to be liked you just have to bow to popular consensus or shut up.

The other CSX owners of which one individual speaks don't to my knowledge participate on this website and the last one mentioned used to and still does participate since he sold his Cobra. If some owners don't care about this issue or don't care to discuss it great for them. Actually around here I would'nt blame them. The third CSX owner of which Mr. McMahon speaks which I believe is Steve Sunshine (great guy) has in the past weighed in on this subject many times.
Many CSX owners have participated in this subject in the past and have decided that the crap they have to deal with just isn't worth it. How do I know? I've gotten emails from some.

Its not that I care about what anyone here thinks on the issue either. I couldn't care less. I'm just participating in a discussion on this site and if you didn't notice there have been quite a few others discussing it also. Hard to have a discussion by ones self.

Ron: You've got to be kidding me. Your comments were snide and ridiculous and aren't worth responding to except to say that I thought such comments were beneath you. I guess not. A subject is being discussed and I responded to someones comments about my motives. Period.

But in the end its become clear that around here you can't voice facts that fly in the face of popular opinion about the CSX without being accused of "looking down" at others. If you can't win on the facts just attack personally. Thats the CC way.

The other owners of CSX's were right. Waste of time. Theres a reason alot of CSX owners don't participate actively here or have stopped.

This place has just gotten nastier and nastier.

Waste of time.

There is no help, you just don't get it. CSX cars are different, they are in a registery, they do cost more, they are recognized by the SAAC, and you own one. Believe me, we all know this. But we are certainly tired of hearing it.

And your statement of your car not being a replica is false, but I'll tell you it's not if it makes you feel better. But I will tell you that no matter what registery it's in or who recognizes it, it is still a kit car. That is a fact. Legally.

Hey Evan,
They are JUST cars, a passion, expendible, hopefully enjoyable and not worth sacrificing friendships. I'm sure that you realize that the anamosity is NOT directed towards the car but rather towards the protagionist that insists on ravishing the replica manufacturers. Unfortunately I don't think that Shelby is even at the heart of the aggression but more probably his partner/attorney.These cars mean something to our generation but in 10 years will become meaningless to the rice burner/SUV group. Few of that generation could identify Shelby, Yates, Bondurant, Brock and many icons. We do not own originals, they are expensive continuation cars that are not superior in quality, fit and finish to many other available cars.
I know you personally and enjoy volleying debates but others only know your internet personna, which frequently is not exemplary of the guy behind the keyboard.

Default Evan and Chaplin

Been sitting on the sidelines as usual... but... but... ah heck, here goes.

Evan,

Since you want to continue talking about it...

Though I have never seen it, I am sure you have a beautiful Cobra. There, I said it, you have a Cobra. Seriously, you've got a real Cobra. It's got an alloy body and it was constructed under the auspices of SAI. It is faitfhul in every detail to the original. Honestly, a really great car. It is different than an original in a couple of important ways. First it was built 30 years or so after the orginals. All of the orginal's chassis and body's were built by AC. And, in those days when you bought a Cobra you got a title and vin number. Your fine Cobra differs from the orignal in those aspects. Does that make it a not-real Cobra? No, it's still a real Cobra, a real Cobra that is a replica of the original. Carroll has said it, the Registry has said it, you've said it. I get it.

I can understand your steadfast opinions on your car. But lately your steadfast insistance that anything SAI puts their plate on should be held in equal esteem to a fine Cobra such as yours lessens your credibility on the whole matter of replica versus real. You continually state that your Cobra is faithful in every detail, and I agree it is... Alloy body, brakes, engine, trans, rivets, and even down to the electrical system. Yet you state that the SA CSX's follow that same mantra, that they are faithful to the orginal in every spec and detail. Now, since they have a fiberglass body, how does that statement hold water? And if I am not mistaken, based on the pictures I've seen, the electrical system has been modernized with buss type fuses. Hey, I'm not saying the SA CSX's are not, or will not be, fine cars, but I think they will definately add to the already confusing shades of what is real. Will they be a real Cobra? Yes because SAI will call them a real Cobra. But are they as real as the originals? No. Are they as real as your car? No. Are they more real than a non-SAI replica? Yes, but the question becomes how much more real? So you see, it all gets very confusing and subjective.

And finally, whether you like it or not, the "real" question just does not matter to some people as much as you. And not for petty or jealous reasons. It just honestly does not matter. But you always insist the majority of folks harbor ill will cause they are jealous. I think there may be a few zealots that are the flip side of the coin from your own zealousness.

Chaplin,

Earlier in the thread you said...

"And in all fairness to Evan (not that I'm defending him because he certainly doesn't need my help), I have never heard him once state that a CSX is a "better" car than brand X. "

Do a search for the threads:

Evan, you can argue better than me, so I'll give up, but if you read my post closely, I never indicated that you can't share your opinions if they differ...They are not opinions however. You are arguing the obvious truths to those who know, and don't need to know more about real or not real. You stick it in the face of everyone here all the time which just begs for people to jump in and nail you because you come off as an arrogant ass, not someone who considers himself as equal to the others here, regardless of make. You did not need point out that Shelby is not a replica. You knew what would happen, and you knew it is an obvious truth. Why bring it up unless you are trying to somehow hold you or your car or your choice or your ability to pay more, or whatever the reason, on a pedastal. Why? You are purposely trying to stir the pot or you are not capbable communicating in a respectful manner.

Nobody is telling you not to be here, or post here, or share your opinons....They are just telling you that the way you communicate on this subject is completely out of line and arrogant. Find a way to respectfully communicate. I again bring the guy with the SPF around these parts that puts a sign out saying his car is NOT a kit. It is as true as the statement that yours is real, yet it pisses people off. Why? Because somehow this person is trying to pass his car off is better than the rest, or original, or something other than what it is. You come off the same way, and it's a pisser. You're smart enough to get along, or maybe you just enjoy crapping in the sandbox and seeing everyone react. If the latter is the case, get off of it. If the former is the case, find a way to communicate.

People....give it up. He'll never figure out that it's the WAAAAY he comes across that flames everyone. He'll just never get it.....never get it....never get it. It's not his car, or even the original subject people are responding to (and has generated 15 pages here), its him.

It's fairly common for people to appear more strident in e-mails than they are in person. But, this redefines the meaning of the word, strident.

So, why am I even bothering to type this? I dunno......I'm sure the msg. will not be received, and even if it were, will be ignored.

Evan ,my wife and I used to think you were picked on--you know what---your last posts for the last few weeks defending "your" CSX--BFD--you do not own an "original", a continuation Yes,
a Shelby ok--but it is still not what you want it to be and you make a fool of yourself to keep harping on it. My Opinion Only--moo.
You can call your car whatever you want -- a freaking Yugo for all we care--

Maybe I crossed the line here but you know what I don't freaking care--

You can go and put down every other owner here and continue the "debate" but it won't change a thing in our perception, not until the day you have a 1960's CSX--other than that your Cobra will be a replica of Shelby's glory years.

You've crossed my wife and me's tolerance level with your latest.

Guys, I have a simple solution to this dilemma, since there is a difference of opinion in this matter as to what is real and what is not.......Why not take it to the "Cobra Peoples Court"....Both parties include lawyers, both parties are responsible adults..........After both sides make their arguments, we can then have a vote "by a jury of your peers" and settle this once and for all..........If all parties agree, I say we open a new thread in "the lounge" here and go at it.....Say a week to prepare, then a week or testimony ......A poll/vote thread can then be started, and the polling of "the jury" can commence afterwards.................What say you..........

Humbly,

Bill ***********

That's a terrible idea....just let the topic die out.

It has run it's course...it's old...it's boring.

..and, as you have seen, it promotes ill will....among all.

Ron,

I was just trying to be whimsical this morning that's all.....Something along the lines of:
Scene one opens to a wide shot of the empty courtroom, announcer in the background states the following:
"Welcome to Cobra Court, the honorable William E. *********** presiding". .

Sincerely,

Bill S.

You know you have really stepped over the line when Mr. Mills has to chew you out.
I think he has been real patient with Mr. Harris, but I can see now even his patience has worn thin.
A couple of his pals in the Gashole gang have told him to knock it off but he won't even listen to guys who have befriended him.
Geeze even I know when to stop busting chops.
Are you not going to stop until absolutley everybody here can't stand you?

Evan shut the fvck up.
