tinker - The surface will become VERY slippery after a couple of coats. It actually becomes difficult to control the towel because it keeps wanting to fall off the car. It becomes fun when a small bug lands on the fender and you give it a quick puff of lung-power. The little ba$tard will fly clear across the hood! (simple minds = simple thrills)

Steve - Water spots are MUCH less likely to occur IF you can get the water droplets off the car before they dry very much, if at all. I followed the recommendations of the Zaino website and used my Stihl BR400 backpack blower to dry the car. Man, what a difference! I will NEVER dry the car another way again. Awesome. Anyone wanna buy my used chamois, Absorber, and California Water Blade? I'll cut you a great deal...

Clay - My personal opinion is that you should save your kit for a darker car. But that's just my opinion.

The website's recommendations regarding the towels is dead-on. I'm married to a textile R&D engineer and she can attest to what the Zaino site is saying. I traveled far and wide to find the correct Fieldcrest "true" 100% cotton towels. They're not cheap but I did buy the huge "bath sheet" size (ooh, how nice). I washed them as specified before use and immediately took the scissors to them after drying (again, per the website's recommendations). It makes a difference.

I washed the car in well-concentrated Dawn liquid to remove the previous wax coats. I did not clay-bar the car (it's as smooth as a baby's ass already). I used the Z6 between coats as specified.

I stress: Multiple coats. Multiple coats. Multiple coats.

I used it on my daughters truck. I thought it was black.. Turns out there is 3 different colors of metallic in the paint I didn't realize were there. Just amazing how well it lights up the metallic paints when you roll them out in the sun.

Keith,
I've been using Zaino for two years now.Wouldn't use anything else.

After seeing how beautiful your red paint came out I had to put another couple coats on mine.
Have 4 coats on now, couple more in a few days.

I just spent three days using Meguires 1,2,3 system. Cleaner, polish and wax (Cleaner Wax). What a pain.

Car came out great.

Are you guys saying Zaino will make a notable difference over the Meguires system?

How does it do on moderately worn out paint? I thought I'd try it on my red Bimmer 325 convertible (1990 model) which is passable for most people, but needs to be redone if truth be told. Will it spruce that up, too? Any special hints? The website doesn't really say much about rehab jobs. I'll take some before and after photos and put them in the gallery. How much time between coats in Texas in 80 degree weather with 70% humidity?
thanks.

I would think that with worn out paint, you should use a clay bar at least. I would call Zaino to get the input. If it it is really worn you may want to compound it with a machine first.

Heck, I called Zaino's technical support number once (forgot why) and Sal Zaino himself answered the phone! Talk about support!

Real1 - I was a firm believer in the 1, 2, 3 thing as well. Did it many times. Takes a VERY long time to do correctly but can yield exceptional reasults. Zaino will yield exceptional results as well, but is much easier to accomplish. I haven't had time to add the 7th coat yet.

Thumbs up I am also a convert!

I have been using their products for a bit over two years now and I doubt if I will ever use anything else! I have never gone past four coats on my Guardsman Blue, basically only because I was so happy at that point I stopped!

Tired Zaino today and I'm sold; what a shine ... and the body feels very, very smooth.

I also tried their plastic polish on the wind wings and visors -- another winner. Took the tiny scratches right out.

At first Zaino stuff seemed a bit expensive, but you use so little product to produce such good results that the cost is probably less than others.
