Default Mounting

Tools required
1 inch steel square tube stock
3/4 inch steel round tube stock
5/8 inch grade 8 bolts/nuts
1/4 inch steel slat stockFender washers
Welding ability
3 hrs

You first mock up the seat into position with 2x4 wood blocks then determine either floor mount or seat track mount.

The rest will be detailed in diagrams and pictures but, experience in welding is a must.

It sounds harder than it is but it is the only way to get the seat at an optimum position.

There is no generic mounting. The seat is supposed to fit both you and the car like a custom tailored suit.

With the work needed to build ,I guess the mounting frame, or whatever, is your seat considered a "kit" seat, and not a "real" seat ?

Default Seat

Just like the originals

Same need to be handy in creating a mount for them.

At least they went in 1 brand of car, Shelby where the mounting position holes were in the same spot all the time.

With all the kit cars out there, it's easier to get a "hole in one" on a par 5 than it would be to make a mount to work in a car long distance.

And.., these were comp seats used in comp cars installed at Shelby American in their cars. Not for the average street driver or trailer queen guy. Comp cars were owned by guys who worked on their cars.
This was a no brainer to install then and the same goes for now.

Bring me the car and I will mount it in any kit car you want, Sonny boy.

The guys like Cobra Restorers that sell the exact copy of the original Shell in fiberglass like the original don't sell a mount for it either.
Why?
