		Hi , i decided to mess around with an old 1/24 Monogram Cobra plastic kit that was falling to pieces. Thought i,d try and make it into the Cobra that  Ken Miles raced at the 1964 Sebring, the one with all the vents.  
 Done quite a bit so far, i was wondering what the real car`s rear looked like, standard 289??? with boot handle / number plate light etc.

I have an unopened, reissued Revell 427 S/C...trying to decide what to build with it.  Hard to do brushed arruminum on plastic to do my own car (converted a Franklin Mint to mine anyway), so I was thinking of ol 198.

		OK...see if this helps.  Freidman's book Shelby Cobra at page 98 shows a shot of No. 1 with Morton at the wheel.  It's from the side, but you can see the right hand side front scoop over the grill (ie., it's the 427 proto.).  Looks like a square tailight out back. 
 
Then I go to pages 102-103 and look at the Gurney/Johnson No. 11, which looks to have the identical front bumper/light treatment as No. 1 (not too surprizing given them both being team cars).  Page 102 has a side-rear shot of No. 11, and you can clearly see the number plate light (no plate, of course), and less clearly the boot handle.

 Just get some silver paint, and do the brush strokes front-to-back, and get a good build-up of paint on the car.  AFTER the paint dries, start experimenting with different grits of sandpaper/emery cloth, again sanding from front-to-rear,  (or rear-to-front), until you get the desired brushed "arruminum" look that you are looking for.

		Well, like I said, I recreated mine using a Franklin Mint arruminum model and it worked out pretty well.

Way to go. That's showing guts to do that to a collector model.
