Sure...just from the 'cool' factor.
It doesn't change any DNA of the cars, though.

Only the SPF "Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe" will have a section in the Registry.

Just wondering, does anybody else suspect that this has as much to do with SAAC keeping track of Kirkhams that may morph into Shelbys than anything else?

Obviously, several have already been used to extensively repair / rebuild original cars, and at least one plastic 4000 series is now wearing an aluminum skin. I've heard that another KMS car was "upgraded" and given "Shelby" status (someone with personal knowelge of this can feel free to chime in here).

In anycase, us Kirkham owners can take pride in our cars no matter what. If SAAC wants to welcome us because the cars are such perfect reproductions...great!! If SAAC wants to recognize us because our cars are so close to original that there is concern that they may become "original"...great!! At least it recognizes the quality and accuracy of the Kirkham.

Given SAAC's history, I suspect the former. Is there anyone out there with firsthand knowlege of this?

Yes, this is clear.
Just like SAAC has made sections for the MK IV and the Autokraft cars, they can then provide an audit trail for all the known aluminum cars.

I guess I have to chime in on this one also, questioning the point of KMP cars in the SAAC registry. It just doesn't make sense. The "keeping track" reason doesn't make sense either. What are you keeping track of? If a KMP (or any other car for that matter) was used to repair a CSX car, or to make an air car, what does it matter what was PREVIOUSLY on record for that car? It's not like the owner of that car is going to submit info to the registry that he just illegally used that car to make into another car. So whatever is written in the registry about that car beforehand means nothing. Same goes for the Autokraft cars, although I feel they have a legit place in the registry because they are AC.

Just seems like a waste of paper to me.

Let me take a guess. Ron is the new SAAC registrar for the Kirkham cars.

Don't give youself that much credit, Jamo. Did you forget I owned a KMP as well? I'd have made the same exact post if I still owned that car. It has nothing to do with me owning a CSX now.
