Do not do this. It is not legal. Look up the thread by "Morgester" here on ClubCobra. You definitely run the risk of serious fines and possibly loss of your car. Just ask Boyd Coddington...OK, maybe not him. But don't do it that way. Go through the "SB..." process outlined above. It is a pain, but it's really the only option.
Just my $ .02, and that may be what its worth  .
