What has YOUR Cobra been mistaken for?

Took a ride in the Cobra up the coast to Davenport on Sunday. Went into the market to get something cool to drink, and as I perused the selection of Kern's nectors (hmmm, Peach, or Apricot?) I heard a guy at the counter exclaim:

"Did you see that car out there? That is so cool! What is it? A Triumph? A Spitfire?"

I was pretty sure my Cobra was the only roadster in the small parking lot, and the response I heard confirmed they were talking about my 289 FIA:

"I dunno. But the inside of it looks like a fighter plane or somethin'."

Okay. I've been asked if it was a Corvette. It's been mistaken for a Triumph or a Spitfire.

What else you guys hear from Joe Random Public?

Oddly enough I often get...wow that's an awesome cobra...people in NJ seem to be in the "know"...if they don't know they just ask what it is...

My neighbor was with his girlfriend and he said, "hey nice Porsche" when he saw my car.

I didn't correct him in front of his girlfriend, but broke the news to him later. :LOL:

I pulled into a Ford dealer and a salesman said "is that an MG?". So when somebody asks what it is and I don't have time for the whole story (just saying it's a Cobra is usually followed by "what's a Cobra?") I say it's an MG. However the last time I did that the jerk said "what's an MG?"). I give up.

Sometimes the really little kids say 4 to 9 years old kinda think it looks like a cartoon car (you know it really does) but I'm always surprised when young people (teens, etc) know exactly what it is.

rollinggeorge 06-08-2009 07:31 PM

Most people are sure it's a real Cobra.....True but not 44 years old. :MECOOL:

Others ask if it's a Kirkham. :cool::cool::cool:

Corvette, Jaguar, and the Speed Racer Mach V (by some little kid).

WarrenG 06-08-2009 09:05 PM

An MG. Amazingly enough it is usually the "older" crowd who should know better who can't figure out what it is.

WarrenG 06-08-2009 09:07 PM

An MG. Usually it's guys old enough to know better that seem the most confused!
