build or buy???
You can buy a used Cobra for about half of what it would cost you to build in today's market. Find the brand you like, the motor and color you want, then buy it. Change or add the little things that you want. For the street a live axle is fine. 300 to 500 flywheel horsepower is good. You can buy a Cobra with a stock 351W or 390 FE and hop it up later if you want to. You will have the exhaust system and the block to work with. Stroker kits and heads are available for horsepower upgrades. A good paint job will be "lot" cheaper than a repaint. Seats and interiors can be replaced. Roll bars? not so easy to change or add, depends on the kit. Check the used market, a lot of great deals out there. You can drive now and upgrade in the winter months, that way you can enjoy your Cobra year round.
Do your research, know your brands and selling prices. Shop and buy.
There are a lot of quantity Cobra for sale in the $30,000 to $45,000 range.
