Transmission cooler?
I would appreciate any feedback on transmission cooling, as I intend on running a Jerico, Jerico recommend for road racing to run a trans cooler, now as I am doing only 5 lap short courses or 20-25 miles of hard use, it may not be that much of a problem!
Another bonus of running a cooler though is fitting a proper filter in, alternatively I could just change the oil periodically and a magnet bung should handle the metal. The downside to the oil cooler system is potential leaks!

I run a jerrico with no cooler. I run the same 20 minute sessions. I think in a heavier vehicle for a longer period of time with a driver pushing the car, a cooler would be the smart way to go. Scott

Cooler
Scott,
I will fit one in the system with maybe a Tilton electric pump, Jerico filter and a reasonable 7 row cooler, or maybe a good transmission cooler if they come with the right AN fittings!
Thanks.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for.... but it's a good idea since there's not many places to get air flow under a Cobra...

The Fan and cooler don't look to be very thick.... so would fit nicely in between the frame rails....
Just some thoughts..

Cooler
Morris,
Appreciate that, and food for thought!
I dont think I need that, as with only doing 10 minute racing here, a lot of guys run nothing, but the question can be asked "how hot is the trans oil, if you haven't got a temp gauge!

Ant:
The jerico has oil cooler fittings for the cars doing enduros. If you are only doing 20-30 mile races, don't worry about it. If you want to know the temps, get an inexpensive infra-red gun, and take readings after each session.
If you fit a filter, make sure it has a large enough cross-section so that it does not plug, example - Oberg makes a gearbox filter...

Oil cooler
Gumball928
That makes sense, my old boss has a heat gun, regarding the oil cooler what I was also intending on having was mainly oil filtration to pick up debris mainly, and plumb in an oil cooler as well, but its all additional cost probably!
