I requested that Lance Stander be invited to the event since his is the most influential Shelby & Superformance supplier in the USA today and the folks running the show agreed and invited him. I received an e-mail saying Lance has accepted. Great news! He represents to the extreme and always brings some great cars.

I'm taking out my 65 Mustang coupe (Ha, Boris) I have run as a canyon/open track car since the late 70's. It looks like all the A/P and B/P cars will be on the track at the same time. Cobra's/GT40's/Daytona's will be in their own class. Can't wait, never run on this track.

Default The weekend

We'll I gave the my $. Mandatory Drivers meeting Friday morning? Practice Friday; may be able to give quests a ride Saturday with Helmet. They said about 12 Cobras entered so far and not sure but appears to utilize the old Firebird strait away as part of the track? Thinking I may be getting in over my head but the main man said it isn't?t a race but just fun showing off all the cars. reflexes aren't what they were with the old car. Putting new brake pads on and got nuts and bolts checked out.

How many of the group are going tracking?

Not sure, a couple of things need to happen. Carmen will hopefully be complete and I am traveling to Ft Collins that week, if all goes well I will be home Thursday. I am looking forward to meeting everyone hopefully before the big festival.

Cheers
Dave

Lance Stander is bringing his big semi and 2 SPF Cobras, his Daytona Coupe and his GT40. Wow! What a setup! He does stuff first class. You won't want to miss this. See you Sunday, Oct 13th.

We'll I dodged a bullet- don't need pads and levy boys checked car over and found few minor items. Had him call the organizer about wearing suits and you have to so Gordon let me borrow his and his top hat.
Then Gordon told me about speeds down the main strait and you will only have to use 2nd and 3rd gear. Maybe reach 130-140! Are you ****ting me!

Think I will be in the rear somewhere

I was on the track last april and hit 130 -135 each pass down the straight as I passed under the bridge but never in 2nd gear.

Fitz - You're going to love the MONDO track configuration: 3.2 miles with 25 turns, 2 straightaways, and a variety of twisties. I just ran it last Sunday with ProAutoSports. I wouldn't bet on those speeds. I got a little over 120 in my race Viper. Under the Main track configuration I've hit 150, but the straight is much longer and feeds into a high speed sweeper. On MONDO you've got to downshift & brake hard at the bridge to negotiate that tight 115 degree right turn onto the Bondurant straightaway. Click here to view a map of the track.

Be fast, be safe, have fun. I'll be out there Sunday to spectate.

I've never known Gordon to exagerate.

I was hitting over 142 every time on the main straight the last time I ran the MONDO course. Would have been more, but I run out of RPM about there and need another gear... Heck, I can hit 130 in 1/4 mile from a dead stop, so 142 wasn't unexpected.

Darn, I guess I'm slow. That might explain why the Nash Rambler passed me at the quarter mile mark, in second gear.

Beep beep

I should have added: Your mileage may vary!

BTW, I only use 2nd and 3rd gear on road courses

ItBites, ya gotta remember most of the folks on this site run Ford engines so the MAY not go quite as fast as your car....

Gordon actually told me I may be in 4-5th gear as we'll and I didn't know we were using both tracks. It is going to be fun. You can't those speeds at the Bondurant track. Karl- why aren't you running that 10 second car? Thought a whole bunch of us local guys would be running. Won't have this kind of thing with birthday ever again unless Karl wins Lemans!
