All you guys that talked about coming and didn't......you missed a really fun weekend. Cudos to Fitz for taking the track for 3 days and pushing the other Cobra's and Daytona's to go faster. On the final race day his two days of practice really made him completive. He did a great job along with Randy in his yellow w/black strives. Lots of cool cars and action both on the track and off. Karl and Superstition Bill came along and we had a nice Cobra corral with 6 Cobra's. It's too bad such a great event had little local attendance. Some cars came from as far as San Francisco, (Los Altos). Sunday had a car show which included about 10 more cobra's. This type of event will return next year, it was the first for Phoenix.
Old Phart likes this.

I thought you did a pretty good job considering that was the first time. I spun out same spot you did plus went in too late too fast on the Firebird S back section. Was too carefull the first morning with others and a little uptight especially after seeing the Mustang go into the wall. Saturday was tons of fun. That was a great set up. I hope they do it again for next year with same set up. For 3 days it was cheap compared to the $6500 7 years ago for Bondurant. Maybe Bob Bondurant will have this on his 81st birthday as well.

Thank you to all who made it there. The weekend was a success, and all who worked for the event were happy. Yes, another great race and show weekend is already being planned for next year.

A fun party weekend, indeed. Bob and Pat Bondurant thank everyone for a wonderful and memorable 80th birthday celebration!

Thanks fitz. It was a blast and had a great time. First time I have had the car on the track and first time I have ever been on a track.

Learned no matter how much grip Avons have on the street, they aren't very good on the track, especially with 15 inch wheels. Considering I haven't have time this summer and only put 50 miles in 6 months on the car and wasn't running perfect it was great to finally achieve what I set out to do when I got it -to drive it like I stole it and not worry what happens. Other than my black car came home brown, It was great to drive it to the track, push it to my limit and the cars limits and then drive it home.

That 511 and extra weight on the nose really showed up on the track but I still wouldn't trade my big block for a small one, it is just too much more fun on the street

It is hard not wanting to do this weekly as it was so much fun. Not sure I will ever push the car to it's limits because I am an old fart and focusing gets distracted when I see all the sheep and goats Bob and Karl are always bringing. Watch out for those herders .... sorry- I am watching our leader on the tube: you know the one that knows what is best for you?
