TOMMY, to be honest with you, it's too high priced ..For about $40,000 more you get a GT40 made by FORD MOTOR... You'll see appreciation on that car for sure...It's a guess on the Cheetah..!!! Dave

It seems pretty reasonable to me , to answer your question.. It is a turn key vintage race car that is welcome at almost every vintage event in the world and it is an authentic looking extension of the original. $110K is peanuts for a front running vintage car as you probably already know. It is no less authentic for being new, the original designer is part of the group. The original cars were financed and tested by GM , so that is not going to happen but it is a really top flight piece. They are not made by the original people as I guess most of them are gone but Bill Thomas was the father of the Cheetah and he signs the MSO. On the other hand , Shelby never built anything either and he signs the MSO too, so it is similar in that respect. I have a much less expensive vintage racer, but I don't expect to win but this baby could - 1400 pounds and a dual quad 350?..
They had an original frame and body there and this is pretty much identical. I expect that the Jim Hall Chapparrals that are coming will be a lot more dough than this.

I don't think you could make one of these for any less money, you need to see one. It is really nifty

Does anybody make a good kit for the Cheetah?

I know Shell Valley has one, but it is modified to be a convertible.

Mulvy has all the money..See him for a loan and go get that Cheetah..I'll say this about the Cheetah..It's one hell of a coffin..It'll get yah there in a hurry.I LOVE MY FFR COUPE WHEN IT'S NOT ALL CRASHED UP...Dave

Dave, I still can't get in the thing... and an equivalent modern racer would be a GT car and that would be a lot more than $110K, more like $250K for a competitive car. This is a cheap racer , really..

They are actually a little nicer than the originals. I noticed that the welds on the original frame aren't done very well and the fiberglass on the original body is pretty wavy. It was intended to be a race car after all, so I wouldn't have expected them to have been perfect either.
The fit/finish on the new one is much better as are the welds on the chassis. A first-class car to be sure. I think the price is worth it but I would probably spend it on a Kirkham instead. That's just my opnion though and if I was was intending to race the car, I might think differently.

Mike....it is on the same side as Gordon's old shop one building closer to the road. OK, OK is it worth the $110,000? Not in my opinion.

OK, $110,000 for a collectible car you cannot drive is too much. I know you could probably make some changes that would allow you to register in AZ and this is probably just a disclaimer. However, if this is being produced as a continuation why would it not comply with or be appropriate to race in an historical race. Is it because it's a continuation car and as such these are not allowed to compete with the original?

I too love the Cheetah even though it is pretty obscure to most of the newer generation. Bill Thomas' factory burned to the ground early in the program.
I love how these old guys like Bill Thomas (Cheetah), Joel Rosen (Motion Performance) and Mr. Norm (Mopar) have come out of the woodwork to take advantage of all the hype over their old designs. Everyone wants to be another Shelby!

I stumbled across this refernce to a new Cheetah you might want to check out. It uses C4 Corvette technology and is more "street friendly". Go to

I've only seen the photos and received an email, but it sounds neat.

Hey Mike, The owner, Ron Keck, was at the Open House and his red Cheetah was parked there inside and it is registered in Illinois for street driving. John, I was talking to the builders son. He said that most organizations will allow it to compete as a vintage race car. It can also be made street legal by the buyer.
I'd say mostly, they have that disclaimer because they sure don't want to be tied to it if someone races and is injured or killed. "If you want to drive it, that's your deal" sort of thing.

Mike, I would have shot lots of photo's but left my camera at home! Stupid me.

The continuation collectible car cannot be raced but the racing version can... there were two different ones... the non racer would be cool for open track...

I'll tell yah..These guys have to get there act together and get a street version going for alot less money.....How many do you actually think there going to see out here on the track at $110,000 a clip..A few ""maybe"" but I don't think anyone would buy the Cheetah for that kind of money..I rather put my money to work and buy something that will appreciate...Wish I could say that I'm impressed with the car but I just don't like sitting on a rear axle....Dave

Just to correct your pricing on Bill Thomas' Cheetah, it's $125,000 and you cannot drive it on the street.
