Fitz-fight it.I've gotten four and have gotten out of ALL of them.Does your license pic look like the image in the pic?If not 100% confirmable, send it in and tell them it wasn't you.

On the rare occasion I get busted for speeding, I generally deserve it. If it was just a ticket and a fine, I would just write a check and chalk it up to experiance. But then the insurance company gets ahold of that, and you're hosed for years. I think that's the only reason people fight tickets.
No one deserves a ticket for less then 30 over.If you want to "bend over" for the government-go ahead. But stop saying everyone else should do it.

Larry-correct.The ticket is worded that way to scare people.

No,they won't.ANd if they do-you plead the 5th.

I think you need to stop using your father's log in and go to bed after the Simpsons young man. Only an imbecile would think that driving 85 in a 55 was ok in the traffic so I will just guess that you are about 14 and give you the benefit of the doubt . Big people know that speed differential is the most dangerous of all public road situations, so they avoid closing in quickly on people who just use cars to get from place to place and not as enhancements to cover their inferiority. Before that winds up your immature personality , be assured that I have driven a lot faster in a car than you ever would dare. Ask around...

By the way, Fitz failed to mention that the 55 zone is the construction area on the 101 and that to fight these things in court changes the rules if you are convicted. Instead of that tiny fine, they will give you the double fine construction zone thing and the points which they do not do if you just pay the thing and forget it. It is a business transaction , pure and simple. If it is you, just do something that doesn't happen too often any more - admit that they caught you and pay for your mistake...

If it were me, I would pay and then try not to do it again.

No points, no foul.

First off i didn't think i needed to include "school zones" and other similiar things as i thought everyone was bright enough to catch my drift. You proved me wrong on that count.

1)Bite me.
2)That's a blanket statement and you are wrong.
3)No smart people know this.Again,if you were smart-i wouldn't be typing this.
4)Not a friggin chance.

just pay it through the mail. If you elect to go to court and challenge it, you are likely to still pay the fine. If the JUDGE requires you pay the fine, he/she will tell you to get reimbursed by the UNKNOWN driver of YOUR vehicle when YOU figure out who borrowed/stole YOUR vehicle and YOU didnt know who was driving YOUR vehicle !!!

Exactly what part of"You won't get pulled into court and they can't force you to tell them who was driving"don't you understand?

We have got to rid ourselves of this over grown fat bureaucrat system that keeps feeding off the tits of it's occupants. Vote them all out in the next election. Start over.

In the mean time I think I will pay the damn thing. Not worth stressing over.

You are incorrect sir. My "birddog" goes nuts every time I go by one. I am in Maryland.

Bill, you might want to check out some of the newer detectors like this one that have an updatable database of photo radar sites. Won't help in every case, since they are putting the little buggers up everywhere as fast as they can.

Not that I'd ever use one of course.

Fitz, sorry to hear about the ticket.

Fitz, sorry to hear about the ticket.
Dave-so what your saying there is a data base of GPS co-ordinates in the detector?
If so,that's interesting. But won't help with the mobile vans the DPS is using. But,on that note, they (the vans) are getting ready to be taken off the roads in 2010 as the state is pulling the plug on THIS revenueing scheme".

Things like mobile vans are why I said that it wouldn't help in every case, Bill. The database is updated weekly and you are able to download it to your computer and then to your detector. It's available for a charge of around $30 for three years. If they install a new camera after you last updated or you're hit by a mobile van, you're SOL even if you have the best detector in the world.

It's sort of like detecting laser or card counting at blackjack. You are just evening the odds a bit in your favor. The detector companies can't anticipate all the new stuff that is going to be used, so they are always playing catch up.

With laser, unless they shoot a car closeby in front of you with laser and there is enough of the signal scattered for you to both detect it and slow down, the best detector basically just lets you know that you are probably going to get a ticket when it goes off and you are significantly over the posted limit.

But the newest really good detectors are a lot better than the cheap ones and are still cheaper than most tickets not to mention your insurance going up for the next few years.

It's also nice to have a lawyer for a friend (that the local DA or JP owes a favor to) who owes you a favor.
