Hi Ron,
My pink slip is from Nevada and reads 1991 ASVE Cobra. I was told even though the car was origonally registered in CA (my VIN starts with CA), because it has been over 10 years as an out of state (Nevada) registered vehicle....I have to go throught the registration process all over. My VIN didn't even show up in thier (DMV) VIN search. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy at the DMV is confused and has me going through additional steps, however at this point I have the 500 series and it looks like I will have no problem getting the smog exemption and SB100. I dont think the origional owner ever applied for an SB100, so maybe that is why this has been such a challenge.
I will keep you posted on my progress. My next step is getting the CHP VIN verification done. I called Oceanside, San Diego and Capistrano to schedule an appt and they are booked to October! I was told to keep calling back to see if there are any cancellations.
Sheeesh...nothing is ever easy when dealing with CA!!
