Can you name this Component and its function?

I have not read the 19 or so posts, but those lines appear small. I use 3/8 Stainless and have considered 1/2 for WOT runs. I am not sure enough fuel would flow through smaller lines with a wide open throttle and not deplete everything in a matter of moments.

Just an observation - probably wrong.

Thanks for the feedback, and recommendations. When I get the fuel cell pulled out, I'll post what I find as far as manufacture and condition. I appreciate the help!

I looked at the car years ago. Dan Fodge had shop Sacramento area at the time. Was proud of billet lower control arm and the arms going back to the rear of frame to help control launch. The car was in kit car mag if my memory is right. He was one of the first to install electronic fuel injection, and at one time had relationship with Rex from engines by Rex, Sacramento. Last I heard he was around central Idaho ? When he would need funds I would buy interesting parts from him. I have a early t.w.m. setup for f.e. with fast wiring and ecu I got from him years ago if you could use for $3ooo.oo . I was there when he hit the wall at Sonoma with customers gt 40 replica. The car was really running hard before the accident. He worked on a lot of cobra and ford stuff and had talent. If you look real close at filter element you should be able to tell the source. I have replaced foam in Bennett car fuel cell, it was not hard. Foam came in bricks that you replace.

OK, I got the fuel cell pulled. It is definitely a problem. I attached a picture, in case anyone wants to see what a deteriorated fuel cell looks like. It looks like Brain soup!
Next I will be looking for a new fuel cell or tank as well as pulling off for cleaning or replacement the fuel lines, pumps, filters etc.

That looks like a real mess - it's no wonder you were having problems.

are you burning ethanol gas?

I would think ethanol would eat up the old foam in the fuel cell.
If you have to burn ethanol gas I would leave out the foam or buy foam rated for use with alcohol.
