Easy for my - I have a modified 5.4 2-valve at present so the Coyote is a must... it's Ford!

But the LSx remains a good option and some now being put in are very neat indeed.. It just isn't a Ford!

And don't forget that for some of us not living in the States, Ford has been a problem to get pass inspection (and getting spare parts)

I never had an issue getting parts from the USA. I used Troyer Performance ( http://www.troyerperformance.com ) and sourced a whole engine rebuild. By talking with Mike Troyer on the phone we arranged all I needed to upgrade the engine and I bought custom cams, a set of pistons and rods and valves etc and at a competitive price. The issue was finding someone who would talk to me and who understood the engine and what I wanted to do - which was basically to get the best of the motor for the application.

I also talked to a mate in Calgary in Canada and he bought bits for me and sent them over - they were cheap compared to Oz. S0 all it takes is some thought and time spent with Mr Google!!

i seen one of those manifolds in a ute at sams performance
i had to extend the injector wires for it

is that pic form the w427 they used to race afew years ago in the 24 hour bathurst race

hi Sideshow, the pic was from an auction site for a hsv prototype monaro 427, only 2 cars were made, one was sold for about 920k, just love the manifold, but cant find out who made it, looks a little nicer than the Kinsler version,

Well, after much sniffing around, got confirmation today that the HRT 427 manifold was created by ........Harrops.
Only 2 complete sets were created, but the tooling is still sitting on the shelves at Harrops, including models, although the CF air box tray has been modified to suit the US G8/GTO bonnet scoop.
Time for a face to face, I'm still expecting disappointment though.

Default LS or Coyote for Cobra..

I say neither. All LS engines have an in block hydraulic roller cam. The new modular Fords have dual overhead cams. This means that initially, the DOHC set up with outperform and even get better gas mileage in some cases, but over time, the timing chains will stretch and the fuel economy and performance advantages will gradually disappear. I'm working my way to a Factory Five Type 65 Coupe and plan to drop a Ford Racing 427 in it. The 427 has comparable power to the LS7 and also has a hydraulic roller cam, but it does not require the exhaust, dry sump system, engine mounts.... Modifications that would cost thousands upon thousands on most kit Cobras and T65s. I believe the Ford modular engines would meet 200,000 miles with regular street use before they required new timing chains. (My Dodge 4.7 needed them at 120,000. It was to the point of misfiring.) I know a few people with LS1 and LS3 engines that have upwards of 400,000 miles without a problem. Due to my experiences, I would go either Ford or Chevrolet. Chevrolet's cam-in-block engines are generally newer and lighter, thus more expensive. If you want a flawless car you can pass all of the way to your grandkids, steer clear of DOHC engines. My current car is a 2006 Ford Mustang GT with the factory 4.6 3V. I wouldn't hesitate to circumnavigate the country in it, but by no means, do I think it will last like a hydraulic roller cam engine. It's all in your choice. For the price, a Coyote can hardly be beat, but I want something I can retire with and never have to touch with a wrench again, so I'm sticking to hydraulic roller cam engines. I've had enough lemons for a lifetime. Not all lemons make lemonade.

I think many other things on either motor will
fail before 200000 Kms
even parts on rest of car will fail by then

Thanks Ozcobra. I think my engine bay will look a bit different once I get my motor back in and connect the new hoses and fittings.
I think I've listed some of the changes previously but these are the changes I'm doing:
-Braided hoses throughout with black/silver fittings
-Teflon hoses to to entire fuel system
-Boss 302 rocker covers
-Weber water manifold
-Harrison tank
-Air bleeders to the top of one of the heater hoses and to the top radiator hose
-Shutoff valve to heater line
-New recovery tank
-Bead blast the stainless steel spinners
-Install a bung into the bottom of the radiator for easy drainage
-New dipstick
Of all the changes the thing that excites me the most is looking at my new dipstick

Hey all..have not read the whole thread and loving the LS3 Walky upgrade I am running in the daily...but the Coyote has some phenomenal potential for a 5.0 displacement ..(well sort off anyhow not counting SC cubes)...ahem 560 KW...may be a tad wild for a one tonne car though...but makes one rethink the old "no replacement for displacement"...merely food for though...and I am a big fan of the howling ford!
