Whilst I value your opinion of the manufacturer of my replica, could you please put it in an appropriate thread. I don't think this is relevant to my build thread.

what are you thinking do you want to blow you engine after the first run or is this just wishfull thinking out aloud
on another note keep us posted on your build progress & who did the axle cut down for you

I'd like to get a bit extra mumbo, the calcs I have run is it'll handle 7psi easy (still under the pre ignition limit) which by my reckoning is around 400rwkw. What actually happens is always another thing, as the biggest issue is finding the space to put the turbos.

Melbourne Driveshafts shortened my rear end. It's a major pain in the a to get engineering signoff, my engineer (who has been very good in other respects) wants a long list of preparation info, weld tickets, and xraying etc to prove they wont fail. Took me three weeks of phone calls both ways to get it okay'd.

Or else find some E-type ones. They are the right length from the start!

Turbos would be really cool, but from a packaging standpoint a supercharger is a clear winner!

You can make 400 rwkw reliably with any of the modern v8s

Before going to all the expense and effort of putting turbos or any other power adder on you should try driving a fairly stock N/A motored Cobra. You may feel afterwards that the extra power is not needed. I built most of a blower setup for mine but decided to shelve that idea after driving Garrett's Supercharged Superformance. With 550RWHP on tap I believe there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

you said e'' type are the right lenth but do i need to change the bearing sizes to make this happen & do you know if engineering allow this [ can they bolt straight up as i will have the same jag rear end as you / & front end as well

How were the drive shafts shortened? Did they turn them down and use a tube? If they are tubular, you cant xray it because you cant get the film behind. All they can do is a magnetic particle test which is not a big deal.

I had some welds tested this week. I dropped them off and picked them up in the same afternoon with a report. Cost me $165 (minimum charge) for them to test a shortened control arm and a replica of the seat mount. Passed with no problems.

There are a couple of different jag models that are the shorter length, but they are like hens teeth to find. The guy at the shop that shortened my drive shafts had a spare pair of the shorter ones but he wouldnt part with them as he wanted a spare set for his hotrod.

I took two weeks off work to spend some time on Cobra. I built the footwells, shortened the steering gear, build the torsional rig, finished the trans mount off, ran brake and fuel pipes for the rear, layed out the loom to suit the footwells. Very busy! Oh yeah and I fitted the accelerator pedal and the seats, so I can make Vroom Vroom noises. Also ordered turbos and gauges from the states.

How many times have you needed to wipe the dash down, to get rid of all the spit

I bet your looking forward to making OHHHHH Arggggg noises when the broom broooom noises come from the right pedal.

I have found i need a cup holder for the beer, making vroom vroom noises is hard work!

Spent some more time on my baby, finished rewiring the loom to the fuse box, got the right noises from the engine so very happy (these BF engines need alot of wiring!). Shortened steering gear is here, and installed. Have got my 200kg water container for the test, completed my preliminary test and I reckon its a good pass. So now to book the engineer for the test, hopefully in the next few weeks, four pot front brakes (from the three pot), build the steering shaft mount, get the engineer to sign off the seat/trans/engine/seatbelt mounts.

Sevenohms, If your retaining the jag rear brakes I would consider keeping the three pot fronts. Bigger isn't always best. Most Jag based Cobra's have next to no rear brakes as the front is over braked.
Some years back, a guy here with an RMC did some calcs and changed his 4 pot fronts to 3 pot. Can't recall if there was a master cyl change as well, i'm sure he runs a Falcon. He says it made a world of dfference.
I can see if he remembers or still has the info if you like.
