Indeed good detective work by the boys from Oz. I was looking it over a little more in the pics. The red one on the cover of the Frog magazine is talked of in the big book as 3150. They also talk about the cars move to Oz. The red and silver car pictured here and in the Aussie car mag have no oil cooler? The chinless cars should have a number starting with 33--. The other thing that bugged me about it was the tail lights. With an early number like that I think it should have rectangular lights. More thoughts on it after brekkie.

427 emblems not on the side, tinted band wind shield and the hood scoop too low and not riveted on also had me thinking.

I don't want to upset Joe or raise any value or originality questions on the car. I think it's a very nice looking car that I certainly wouldn't kick out of my garage. It has some very nice original street car touches like the splitter in the nose and the hinged front number plate. I would really like to crawl all over it but a bloke with a camera could skype someone with questions and look at some details on the car. Does anyone know Joe or could talk to him about whether he's interested in setting up something?

The others black & white pictures in the article of my "frog" magazine show CSX 3150, with 427 emblems, but no hood scoop and rectangular tail lights.

Thanks Bob, between the front and rear differences it's looking to me like the Magazine de Francois shows a different car to this one in Oz.

I've got suspisions the MKIII is the ex David Radcliffe cobra that was in NSW for many years. It was dark blue and was getting a little tired looking.

I have a few article pic's at home I'll dig em up and post them

Further research seems to point to the car being shown in the Brussels Motor Show in 1965. Imported to Australia by a Frank Foster who also imported a 289 .David Ratcliff bought it after 25yrs replaced the engine with a new 427 detuned. The photo of the engine close up CSX3150.

Yes Merv that gives a good account of the car. But as you hinted every cobra has that mystique about originality.

Have ordered that back issue to see. As some one said, that car seems to have had many colours.

I'm more than jealous, a man of very good taste. I just love the driving photos, out on the road where they should be.

The 427 is definitely CSX3150. You can lock that in.

CSX3150 has always been unusual. No oil cooler scoop, different front turn signals, different rear lights, larger mud flaps on front guards, different badges, hood scoop, tinted top of windscreen, interior differences etc. Certainly different to what you would expect of a 427 street car. But from what I have seen of original cars, it could be a combination of factory options/changes and customisations by different owners over the years. I suspect most from owners.

CSX3150 previous owner was Rod Sherrard. Rod purchased it from NSW while it was blue(see attached photo), had it at the Brisbane Motorshow in 2005. Rod was also gracious enough to have it over at Bowdens lined up next to their own Cobra's & GT40 when the QLD Cobra Club first visited there. Then it had a major restoration by Sleeping Beauties and painted in Red with it's original hard top. Sleeping Beauties :: Restorations of Fine Automobiles Then for sale early this year by Classic Throttle Shop in Sydney. Classic Throttle Shop - Sold Cars And now another colour.

Rumoured to have changed hands for $480k in 2005 while it was unrestored in blue.

Don't have much time to dig for the many photos I have of CSX3150, but here is one from my gallery when it was blue taken at Bowdens. Enjoy.

That solves the car of many colours Craig. We all have seen the green one in the Bowden's collection, but what happened to the earlier red one? It is still there?

Merv, that shot looks straight out of a scene from Running from the Guns, featuring a yellow slab side.

I have dug out a couple of mags with article on 3150, Aust Classic Cars 1995, and Sports Car World 1986. Gotta do some work now but will scan them in later today.

The red car is CSX 2101, and it was sold back to CA in 2008. It has since been painted black and resold by a dealer.

I forgot to check if anyone has mentioned the chassis number of blue/white 289. It is CSX2105 in case it hasn't been mentioned.
