I don't like burnout comps either. I think I have too much mechanical sympathy. I appreciate a good burnout at the drags but just frying the tyres for smoke and noise doesn't do it for me. Makes me think of the ass hats that used to leave black marks all over the suburb I used to live in.

Cheers

Add me to the list as well. Considering that this was a big deal to set this car festival in the centre of Aus, then for a two hour program on TV, and it's just 1000hp cars smokin a set of 225's.

OK, I know it's more than that, and that there is skill and so on, but there is so much more that could have been shown.

Anyway, it's a starting point, and congrats for getting world class cars out near a big rock.

That was the disappointing part Leroy,
I have taken them to task a bit on social media over it.
The NT Gov funded the event, and the burnout masters held round 3 at the event, but watching it on tv it looked like it was a burnout show with some sort of car show tacked onto it.
There was over 450 cars entered, majority of which where show and shine, then drags, then burnout comp. The tv coverage showed a handful of cars in main shed (elite entries) Not a single second of footage was from Saturday/Sunday show and shine. Short part showing the Friday night cruise through town and cars arriving at Blatherskite park Friday night. Even shorter showing 2 or 3 drag runs.
Almost no footage of grass events and not a single second of motorkhana.

This TV show was an opportunity to show off just what great fun with a huge selection of events to participate or watch, and they elected to show near none of it.

I'm with Mike on this one. I don't like punishing any vehicle to the point of breakage just to create lots of smoke.... It was a disappointing coverage of the event. (describe disappointing = channel 10's coverage of motorsport e.g. V8's).
Dave I think I saw your Toyota in one Arial shot of the park!

got me buggered how the EPA let burnout compertions at all . wa have had the epa at our track for a audit and they picked things like speakers are to loud get rid of some and point others to the ground in case we upset the neighbours even tho the closest one to us is over 5 ks away as the crow flys.
i dont see what the attraction is too burnout comps but plenty of guys spend big bucks on engines to compete and the prize money is good at some comps .
my view is its a bogan sport that attracts bogans to compete and watch lol

cheers dean

Dave
Look up the M.V.E.C. NT site. Then their magazine "Transmission". download edition 101 Oct. 2015 edition. You'll find a picture of MILDRED for your scrap book.

P.S. Is it hard being both rich and famous?

Regards

Dave

Aussie Mike I agree...I don't see any point in revving the klacker out of an engine just to melt tyres.

Well it has only taken me 5 years (since I decided to do this). But I have made a start top put a wall up so I have a seperate office/garage in which the Cobra and Mildred can live.
Plan is to make it comfortable and set it up as a small office.
Doing the wall also gets me to finally set up the machine shop area how I have always wanted.
Had to move crap out of the way first (5 years of crap)

And with most of it moved to fit the wall.

Some other bits and bobs I have collected to decorate with.

Compulsory Dart board (needs a good clean)

To keep me warm and boil coffee on cold winter days.

Wall frame up. With Horizontal bits to mount a TV and Dart board.

It gets down to positive 6C in the dry season where I am a bit south of Darwin and that's bloody cold.

It's all relative I suppose

Currently the temps about 33-35C. We find Southerners and Poms constantly whinge that it's HOT.

On another note Boxy, don't put 12v batteries directly on concrete. It sets up a convection current in the battery which degrades the plates. Insulate them with a timber offcut or whatever

Cheers

Good spotting, I do know about the sitting on concrete, those batteries are going to recycle, they pay about $15 each for them out here.
I dug them out whilst cleaning.

Nice work Dave.

Only problem I see if this one...

I can only see one pair of rails for the tv/dart board. Don't ever let me shoot darts at your place if the TV is going to be right next to the board!
