Whats happening in Boxshed

My home away from home has picked up a new nicname amongst mates out here, hence the title.

Ok, what is happening.
For an awfully long time I have been wanting to fit Billboards under my car, there is an extreemly likely chance they wont fit without modifying something.
So since there is aevery chance in the world I will want to bounce ideas around, I thought it only appropriate I start a thread, so whoever wants can follow along.

Well I have my rims in hand, a set of 15x7 & 15x10 with Jag front, Ford rear and shallow offset.
They came from Betty, so have been under a CR before, but not with Billboards.

Here is a pic I snapped of my car last Friday, when I drove him to work.

I will also chuck some lights on whilst car is off the road.

So, first question I have.
Bernie or anyone else running BillBoards, is it possable to get some measurements?
I am looking for max width at side wall bulge.
And height from ground level to rim centre with Billboard tyre fitted.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Another toy I have that is just getting a general tidy up, before giving to my Father inlaw as a gift is the below bike.

Wow... Loves these threads... Wish my old man had of had a shed like yours!!

Craigs got Billboards on his Contempory so he may chime in with some info too!

Just out of curiosity, if these are DOT approved tyres how do u deal with the insurance/public liability issues? Can u still get cover?

Probably not.

But I suppose not too many of us are legal, to the letter of the law. When you look at side pipes, noise levels, lack of reflectors, reflective surfaces etc, etc, etc.

spookypt 10-14-2012 10:19 PM

yeah I just wondered as now with this new rego stuff out and all that alot of the ICV stuff as far as I understand is not as big an issue. AKA Bernie Left hooker live pipes 427 etc etc

I'm with you regarding the Billboard look. It just makes a cobra look great.

Actually stefanog Steffi Greco might be able to help you out as he runs billboards on his Robnell I think?

He's around lurking. He was at the Nats drooling over Craigs Kirkhams. It was quite a mess and needed alot of cleaning once he'd left! Lol

No crawling.
Old Ronnie used to ride bikes alot, and really enjoyed it, but life got in the way and he had to sell his toys, then as he started getting time back, he was diagnosed with Cancer.
He tells everyone he is in full recovery (not sure if I believe him) so even if he never rides the bike, I am sure he will enjoy polishing it up and looking at it with a beer in his hand.

Love the bike Dave. Is that an Indian Enfield?

I was working in India a few years back and there was heaps of them arround. I even went into the dealer to check ot how much they were and how much it would cost to bring one home.

They had the 500 and 350 Bullet. I think they have a diesel powered version too although I reckon it would be slower than the continental drift.

Stoped in at a roadside cafe on the way to Mysore from Bangalore and a group fo Enfield riders out for a Saturday ride stopped in. These guys were Enthusiasts just like any of us. I'll see if I can find the pictures I took.

Cheers

Here are just some of the Enfield collection from the National Motorcycle Museum near Coventry. We could have spent a couple of days there easy.

There are about 820 British bikes on display, all beautifully maintained and in working order. There are approx another 130 being restored/rebuilt following the disastrous fire that swept through the museum in 2003.

You are 100% correct Mike, the bike is a 1993 350 Bullet.

All parts still available new, I have a trimmer mate out here so may end up doing a more custom style seat.

And look into more retro style indicators etc.

From what I have read, the Carbie is the let down on these, so will look at retrofitting a Mikuni.

Box - good on you mate. What a fabulous gift. Allowing the chance for Ronnie to devote some time and energy to the bike can be it's own form of therapy.

Box there are a few nice close-up shots here if you're planning on some detailing work for the Bullet.

1992 Enfield 350 Bullet.

Maybe of no specific use, but I found this visual tyre size calculator helpful

Well things got busy at home, but finally found some time on Sunday to make a start.
First thing was to clearance the rear rims over the calipers and the bump steer kit.
A little work with grinder and linisher had that sorted out.

I am also giving the car a going over with spanners, as some nuts/bolts have rattled lose.

1/4 Mile times

Hey Boxy,

What time are you looking for?

There is a 1/4 mile calculator on the web that is pretty close to reality.

You should be in the low 12's with your setup.......
