Unfortunately, they don't make 'Billboards' in 17". Baz |
Crikey Dave, that polish ya used must be a bit ****e mate !
Ya might wanna change brands eh, it doan seem to last mate  Rog |
Congratulations on taking home the trophys Dave. Straight to the pool room with them.
Cheers |
Congrats on your show success Dave, and on some great photos.
I especially like that fourth one, the three quarter rear view with the setting sun highlighting the passenger's side, and the Billboards filling the wheel arches to perfection. It's the sort of photo that, if the Cobra Club produced an annual calendar, would be right among the contenders for one of the monthly pages. |
Cheers Don

Well done Dave, the car looks great.

Pure car porn Dave, well done. You cant beat the look of the Billboards.
Cheers Gregg |
A little more on this now.
After driving for a few more KLs, and checking the car on hoist, I have found the front tyres rub (Just) on the tie rod end, When I bought the rims from Paul, they came with spacers, I elongated the holes on what where the rear ones to suit the larger Holden/Jag stud pattern and fitted (about 5mm spacers) I painted some white paint on inside of tyre where it had been contacting tie rod end, went and did some hard cornering and higher speed corners, rechecked and all good. I also adjusted more neg camber into rear alignment, and now the rears also miss the rear fenders (was contacting just rearward of centre point on outer lip), I will get the alignment checked and toe in rear adjusted as it will now be toeing in more than it should. I took it drag racing on Sunday, can report no real difference compared to the 17's on track times. with 1.78 60fts, 12.50 1/4 at 110mph these are near identical to times I ran with the 17's fitted. Can also report no tramlining or "weird" feelings on the strip or at higher speeds. The more I drive on them, the more I love them. |
Billboards
Hi Dave,
I have put a set on the Coupe and they were s+++!!!!! I always knew they were average, BUT,,,,,,,, I increased the pressure from 20 to 22 and that helped, maybe 24-26 is the best option,,,,,, Stiffy |
Interesting on Tyre pressures, I was told to run about 25 psi in the bf goodrich euro t/a 305 mm width on mine, but I find if pushed hard into corner I think the side walls are bending a far bit causing it to break away fairly violenty somtimes.
|
I have them at 28 at the moment.
On the drag strip (flat smooth surface) they are fantastic, on a road, they do tramline a little, but not too bad. The more neg camber and toe in in the rear has made it drive straighter. |
Fark those wheels / tyres look awesome and you are right they give the car the 'tuff as' look. Well done Mate and well deserved......
|
Seeing as I am retiring from racing.... Maybe some 15's ..... Boxhead you have inspired me!

Made a start on Saturday with the shed tidy up and sort out.
I lost about 1.5 work bays but gained a tonne of storage space. Mezzanine will go on top, hopefully this Easter weekend. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psb146f766.jpg After moving Charger and shelving that was there. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...pscc9df49b.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...pscc9df49b.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps7466cdb6.jpg All frame work up. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps84d23742.jpg Quick trip to Gavs sponsor to buy some shelving. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps13fa2fd0.jpg Steel work bench I bought a month or so ago. End of day Saturday. All the crap in following pics will be on shelves and finally sorted. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...psba91d1fe.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps14a24db2.jpg Back out Sunday morning (slow start as knee is shagged). http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps7b0c3fbd.jpg Fridge was old and leaky, so it is now gone. New bar fridge will go into old shed where kitchen and work desk will be with Cobra. Compressor now has a home and I can get it wired in, Shelves refitted behind Corona work bay, TrophyKart goes in beside this in open area. Charger work bay is infront of steel work bench, with 4 post hoist between it and rollerdoor. |
Ok, it's official... I got shed envy
|
Looks great Dave. Did you bolt Dexion frames down to the slab?
Cheers |
Not bolted yet, I was just checking on sizes and prices for floor on mezzanine, It looks like we have it pretty right.
I left a 750mm gap between frames for access. This works out pretty well with floor sheets and with top hat steel. |
You can never have enough storage space!
I like the rim mismatch on the Cobra. 18s and billboards would be an interesting package out on the unrestricted highway..!!! |
Lol, just until I fit the rose joint tie Rod ends I bought from Murphy Engineering.
Next weekend I will be fitting the matching 17's to the front, as my local car club are doing a run up 400k north (200 of which is unrestricted speed zone) |
Looking good.
Not to derail the thread, but where did you get your track windshield? I'd love to have one of those for track days. |
