Cost of Engineering

Hi

I know it is a very broad question - but what is the 'ball park' figure to expect to pay to get engineering approval for a kit?

I am in Tas which is another variable - but what have people paid?

$1,2,5,10k???

Is it something you get as a quoted price or is it 'do and charge'?
