Zedn, because it's a 25 y/old column and I intend to keep my Cobra for a while yet. I like the idea of steering components being new rather than old. Totally agree on the Laser shroud though.

Just replace the bearings. I replaced the lower bearing in mine. It was 9.95 from abc bearings.

Excellent stuff Richard. Wow, you are going quite quickly.
I presume you're painting body anyway hence you didnt get the body detailed (joins finished etc) right? And interesting steering lock - love the way you're managing your audience with "more of that later" :-) |

What do they say? "Leave 'em wanting more", or something like that! Craig took my car to the Nationals last year so that I could pick it up from there, rather than ship from QLD, and there wasn't enough time (with all the other preparations that Craig was making for the Nationals) to get the seams removed before the car left the factory. I'll get it done when the car is painted, but in the meantime it's a good talking point when friends who see the car for the first time assume from the finish that it has been painted and I can point at the seams and show them that it is "just" the gelcoat. The build is going well and I have quite a bit done now. Because I only started the thread on the weekend, my posts make it look like I am completing tasks on an almost daily basis, but the reality is that the build started in September and I am just playing catch up with posting the photos. The thread will come to a halt soon, no doubt, as the images catch up to where I am with the build now. Richard |
Aha! The magic of the internet revealed! It is not real time at all :-)

Nice Stoppers! Are they the bigger Rotors?
|
Yes, these are the big ones
|
Those brakes look like the VE/VF Commodore Brembo kits on eBay - rebadged?

Engine, gearbox and diff
Here are some images of the engine, gearbox and diff. These were fitted for me, by Neil Streeting. He did a great job.

Now thats progress.
As I have said before...... nice new parts... nice and clean and great fitment. Envious....... yes! Keep the updates coming. |
Looks great! I wonder how much further back the engine is placed in the AP compared to a Harrison or CR? It seems like your shifter location with the mid-shift conversion is a bit further back than I've seen in Harrison and CR cars, so the F/R balance should be pretty neutral. Just for a guess, I reckon it will be 49/51
|
CR's are heavier in the bum from standard.
Mine was 45%front 55%rear when it ran an alloy block. |
Hi Richard
Can you please tell me why you went with that engine and gearbox combo? I am no expert, so would appreciate the result of your enquiries... Eg TKO and LS3 was what I was planning... Cheers Tony |

He also has a massive 6 piston front option, they are quite impressive, also Brembo. |

They are Brembo kits, as far as I know, but you'd need to ask Craig for more details. They look good on the cars too. Richard |
