They are only padded with foam for now, rather than finished completely. I needed this done so I could work out my actual sitting position. Now that I have this I can position the seats relative to the steering wheel, locate the right position for the pedal box and then bolt that to the floor. I'm just fitting the bonnet scoop to the car and have bolted this on. Looks fantastic, but it left me with a question. Should there be a rubber seal thT goes in between the bonnet and the scoop, that the bolts go through and that seals the scoop to the bonnet?

Thanks for the pics and feedback about your scoop. I have used the same bolts as you but with chrome dome nuts on the inside instead of the Nyloc ones. Looks great, but I wasn't sure about the need for a seal, so thanks for clearing that up for me. See you at the Nationals on Saturday! Need I say "have a good drive down"?? Cheers, Richard |

I'm getting to the point where I need to decide on try trim for the car and I'd be interested people's advice and opinions on whether to trim in leather or in vinyl - I understand there are some very good vinyls around these days. Not just quality of finish, but durability and comfort in the sun, etc. Please let me know your thoughts. thanks, Richard |

Thanks for the feedback about the vinyl Craig - that is what I am thinking too. It seems that vinyl wears better and the photos certainly bear that out. As you say thought the smell of leather is hard to go by, but I'd prefer the better wearing version. Tony, I'd love to post photos but the forum won't let me. I can no longer start new albums and add photos to post - it has been an issue since around October for me. I've been told about different ways to post photos, but none of them seem to work for me. Maybe I've posted something that I wasn't meant to :) The car is coming along really well and I feel that the end is in sight. Off to the auto-electrician at the end of March, so I have set that deadline for myself and should be able to meet it now. Cheers, Richard |

Just to support the vinyl option leather also shrinks and when buying per metre will naturally have more damage so you may need more to eliminate faults. And vinyl is cheaper by about $2K by my trimmer and with modern technology is hard to pick over leather these days. I have just committed to an all vinyl interior set up and the trimmer also wraps the steering binnacle which in vinyl is also easier to manage. Hope this helps. |

Most of my cars have had or still have vynl interiors and they are all fine and look great. Leather has the smell and ages to give the car patina as Craig says.....some love the look others feel when the leather gets to that stage then they bin the trim and start again. My favourite looking seats where those in Bernies old blue Cobra..looked straight out of the 60s.....

Vinyl does seem like the go. I'm sure you can get leather smell in a bottle. Or maybe just hide a patch of hide under the seat so you can still smell it!
