Option #2

I have already ordered a black locking latch and I will be cutting an opening out in the rear firewall in front of the battery. Essentially, it will look the same as the Pace storage compartment but it will be a little wider. Will then trim it with carpet so it's virtually undetectable.

I can also use that hatch area to slip small valuable items in there too.
