Question; Why do you want to go 15" rims ?
You are really going to limit your choice of tyres
There is precious little out there that you would say is quality product.

Hi Rog,

I have seen that calculator, unfortunately its the physical sizing up, offset of the rim, OD of the tyre and width that will fit well into the guard that concerns me. And it seems nobody can really help with it

Reason for 15" is I personally love the look of the old school 'fat' tyres. I think they look great on the cobra so want to persist with it.

I have already researched tyres quite a lot, and although the options are not huge, there are a number of brands I can get here or brought in.

Just amazed there are no DRB boss cobra guys on this forum that can offer what tyre size they are running

I think the idea of the calculator would be that if you could get info on any tyre size 16 or 17 then convert it back to 15". I know its not ideal but could get you close. Just got to find someone with a Boss.

I think the Boss runs Jag gear doesn't it?

Hi David,

Yes I understand the theory in that. I have some idea but very worried about spending the money, waiting a month or two for tyres/rims that end up wrong.

Thats correct, it runs jag both front and rear, so the 15" will fit without rotor issues.

Seems the boss DRB is a rare machine! Contacted DRB and even they were a little not sure who I could contact.

Hey Kizza, I found this from a thread posted back in 2007 from a QLD member who didn't appear to be around for long. No rim offset detail however rim and tyre size are listed:

This is my first build. It is a DRB Cobra. It is fitted with a Ford Boss 5.4 Quad Cam motor & Ford Falcon BA XR8 Tip Tonic gear box. All Ford Falcon wiring, computers & components are being run in the car.
The car runs ABS, cruise control, traction control ect.
The suspension is Jaguar Front & Rear.
The wheels are ROH Monaco 3 piece. Front: 8 1/2" X 17"
Rear: 12" X 17"
Tyres Pirelli P Zero Front: 245/45/17
Rear: 335/35/17
The interior is done with Top grade leather & Mercedes carpet.
Paint is Ford Blood Orange with a pearl



The 335-17 is 15mm taller than the 255-15 you were considering, so a good chance it will fit.

Are you still favouring the 255/60-15?

I know of a set of 255/60-15 and 225/60-15 Bridgestone's on rim's that came off an RMC that may be looking for a new home. I'll look into it.

Hey there Rubber Grub (you should change your handle Rog)

How much do tyres deteriorate over time? Would a set of low K, 12 year old Potenza RE-710’s still be a better option than B F Goodslips?

Out of desperation one year I tried a set of 12 year old tyres, yikes... first off I couldn't get enough traction to get off the lift thingo at the tyre shop. When I finally got moving I stopped because I thought there was a jack or something stuck under the car, it sounded and felt like I was driving over loose pavers. Then I reckon I could have spun the wheels all the way home, they were a little softer when they heated up but not much. There was some verrrry sloooow times that year at the NSW Championships. DON'T DO IT! Unless of course you want to win the local burn out comp or do a bit of drifting.
