You will damage the rim.
You can get a tie down with a harness that goes over the wheel or just strap over the top of the tyre.
I have an eyelet or loop in front of the tyre that the strap goes through so the ratchet winds up horizontally and nothing touches the body work.

If Gentleman, and I use that term loosely add a little to this post. I do know a "Little" about hauling, I was a fuel driver (18 Wheeler) for 28years (Texaco & Chevron), and have hauled my race cars at least that long. The way I did and continue to do so, is strapped over the tires. 1- The car will ride on it's own suspenison (Help's absorb the bump's) and No I never had to change race shock's because they wore out while the race car was riding in the trailer. 2-hooking to suspension piece's put's stress on a single point, that it was not designed for. 3-And the best reason for me, I can't bend down or get up as well as I used too. So the tire tie-down is such, I use E-Track, one tie-down behind the tire, looped over the tire to another just in front of the tire, using D-rings, followed by the ratchet to a third. Most of the time I can just kneel down slip the strap over the top of the tire. Nothing comes close to the body. Done & done. If this help's one person, then it was worth writing this long winded post Cheers Tom.

@dacobb , I will post as soon, as I get the new E-track installed. I hope we brought the last enclosed trailer, we'll ever need Just picked up a 2018 Interstate 20' Super Coach, with every option you could order, plus solar panel, and the best flooring I have ever seen. It's a fitting trailer to hold a Cobra There are different way's to tie down the wheel's, but I believe, straight over the top of the tire is best, no pulling from the sides. If you go back to Glen's (xb-60) post about the Cobra traveling on the transport, you will see and I had many people comment on this. How much side pull there is on the Silver Cobra, the rear tire is actually deformed (the 4th picture) here's the post. Cheers Tom. Western Australian Cobra Club road trip

I've used Mac's for wheel nets, through the wheel straps (with padded covers) and their inflatable chassis supports over the years. These are high quality products that offer versatility, adaptability and ease of use. Plus if you need a custom set-up, they will work with you in supplying it. Not the cheapest, but the best made that I've found.

Thank you A-Snake. This is exactly the combination of strap, and D-ring's with the ratchet to the third point. The last installer, promised if the trailer every went inverted the Cobra would hang from the floor Can't ask for anything better then that Again thank you all for reading my posts, Cheers Tom.
