I'm not quiet sure about where this body originated from as I bought it about 8 years ago off a guy who was selling it on Ebay for about $4k so I snapped it up and put it away.

Once I started looking at it I realised how badly it was finished, so I have spent the last 6 months (on & off) re-fibreglassing the rear/front clips to get them right, the spider seems OK and the doors and nostril are all good. Needless to say that will be the last one I buy anything unseen...

All of that said, it has a very original look to it - more so than the RF or DRB bodies, however I can't compare to any of the other kits as I have not seen them in the flesh.

Hey Guys,

what do you think about this as an option for my AC Project - Audi A6 4.2L quad cam, 5 valves/cyl and producing 220kw and 400Nm of torque.
I picked this up last week in town and brought it back to the Island to strip it - I'm even contemplating the quattro all wheel drive system, wiring etc etc.. full donor car.
Am I crazy or is this a great opportunity to engineer something completely different into an AC Cobra replica..

P.S. I think I am going to have to fight my 14yr old son for it though; he loves Audi's and loves this one now that he has seen it.

Yeah, it was from him.
He is a real piece of work, has ripped off the S.A. Cobra club VP for quiet some $$ as I understand it.
Still, now that I have worked on the GT body it has some merits and looks good.

I'm always impressed when someone engineers something different in a Cobra...but, the vision in my head that I have of a Cobra very much includes a V8. The power can easily be delivered/substituted by a non-V8 engine, but the sound and feel of a V8 cannot be substituted.

AFAIC, a V8 is a large part of a Cobra's soul, and it's appeal.

But it's your car so please ignore me and build what pleases you! What would I know....I put a Chevy in mine!

The Audi A6 Quattro is a 4.2l quad cam V8 engine same as the early R8 engines but slightly lower spec. So pretty good start I think, but I still have to make my mind up if I want to spend another two years on this or put in the 427W I have for it?? Anyway it's all worth the thought process.
Cheers for your thoughts

But is it more of a 'refined' V8 with that Audi-esque European sound I'm not a fan of Ben. To each their own though!!

Pull the restricted system off it, load up a new flash tune and you start to get up around 250kw out of an all alloy 4.2L engine. Throw in a set of up spec cams and it's capable of producing 350kw. The BA motors make 260kw at 1200cc greater engine capacity and weight..
As you say, each to their own.
