One of the Qld club members has an R8 with an aftermarket exhaust. It sounds UNREAL!

I love the R8 sound, hence my direction with regards to this project.
All I need is new R6/8 cams, lighter valves as per the R6/8 and I'm hoping I can get away with an E-prom chip and piggy back it into the ECU to change the tune and optimise the power output on the dyno...

Yes he does and we had a little drag race at 100kph one day a while ago.... Let's just say the unrefined 6 litre Windsor left him wondering what had happened... But yes it sounds great at high rpm, I just couldn't hear it from in front 😊
The great thing about a kit car, you do whatever the hell you like to it, it is a kit car after all, nothing is set in stone. We even have an 8 litre V10 in one up here.

Go for it!

The V8 version of the R8 is not particularly fast when we're talking about hot Cobras. Its only 310kw from memory. On the other hand, it will cruise on the bahn nicely at 280. Pretty sure there's nothing "nice" about a Cobra at 280.

My original GT40 SVO 5.0L motor put out 250kw and that was pretty quick in a heavier vehicle than the Cobra - check out link. I think that 300Kw will be perfect, although the A6 engine is not a pushrod engine, so I'm not sure what the low down torque will be like. Going ahead with it though.. Wish me luck
