Hi all,
The engine fits!
I could not understand why when I cut part of the inner skin out the bonnet did not drop the corrosponding amount.
So I decided to remove the inner skin from the entire under scoop area. The bonnet now closes. It must have been some other part of the plenum that was touching the inner skin.
The only problem to overcome now is to fit an intake tube onto the throttle body. It looks as though I may need to cut a hole in the bonnet for this. I'll wait until I get an intake tube to test it before making any decisions.
I have taken some photos of the car (finially). I just need to get them developed, scanned and on the site. Sould take about 1 week.
Regards
Cameron

Hi all,
I have been reading about the problems that Cameron has encountered fitting his engine. He is not the only one!
We are getting a elbow adapter custom made for the trottle body so we can close our bonnet!.
Our bonnet has a double skin - and yes we have alos cut part of that out as well.
With all the modifications done we can now finally close the bonnet and concentrate on getting the wiring harness sorted out. I think that is going to be a headache in itself.
Regards
Lyn

Hi Lyn,
Elbow adaptor. Very clever, I never thought of that. That would solve my other problem re the induction tube. Can I ask who is doing this for you?

Cameron

Hi Cameron,
Having adapter custom made here in Adelaide by Rodtech who specialise in Hot Rod parts. The adapter he is making, is a plate to suit the manifold
I forget to mention we have also lowered the engine mounts and then welded them back on again.
Regards
Lyn

Just a small point regards the DRB front shock mounts.....
When lifting the front end, found both top shock mounts split and bent.
Beware - the orginal plate was thin as.
Now strengthened by Ozvenom Custom Fabrications including new gas shocks.
Back to the back end to get that sorted.
Anybody want a pair of billet adjustable hot shocks and springs????

Extended length and compressed length?

Well done Alvin.
David,
Unable to measure the shocks as I left the old one's at Scott's including the packaging (one was leaking so replaced them).
They were and are now Monroe GT Gas.
Pretty sure it was'nt the fact that the shocks were not the right length. It was just that the angle bracket was simply too flimsy.
Better now with reinforcing in place.

Great news Alvin,
Should be fun to see how it goes with the extra horsies.
If I remember rightly you lowered the engine mounts. Did you have to do anything else to make it fit?

Hey Alvin,
Just noticed the pics of your engine. Its nice and shiny. Is it an American motor or did you just turn the plenum around?
