OK

Lets say the cost will be approximately $1500 per car. You arrange insurance.

You must be prepared to be without your car for 6 to 7 weeks each way.

We look at say third quarter next year ( Maybe for the Run N Gun ).

Four days air travel. Plus three weeks Cobra driving with an plan of events etc. to be organised. 1 month total away from Australia.

Who would seriously consider this concept.

Bernie,

Being without the car, ok, can do. getting to the US for some fun, can do too.

A month away, probably a stretch

Costs look OK for what you are suggesting too....

Put me down as a possible, see how your numbers shake out

Cameron

Thanks for the info.

Perhaps we can have an option of two, three or four weeks with Cobras stored for return to Australia.

We all pick up at the same time, but there's an option to stay on for an extra week or two?

Just some thoughts.

Will discuss this further at the Nationals. I'm still waiting for a reply from Shannons regarding the insurance.

I may write to Shannons to get a formal reply/quote. I think my questions were possibly placed in the 'toooo hard' basket!!

Early responses from Customs etc. appear to offer no difficulties with paperwork etc. needing to be completed with guarantees that we will bring them back. ( a guardsman painted Kirkham !!)

Cheers

Bernie

Talking Insurance , damn lies and Politicians..

For those who may be interested. I'm still experiencing a "NO INTEREST" in insuring our Cobras whilst travelling in the States.

Will keep trying.

In the US I carried Insurance with Farmers, I could make the call..... what do you think, cover notes for a handful of cars for a month . I would also think that the world rally boys (paris to peking etc...) would have a solution.

How about Lloyds?

Let me think about it

OK you think about it. I'll keep talking with the insurance guys here. See what we come up with.

Its insurance in the container and whilst in the States on the road.

My neighbour travelled on a bike (know it should be similiar) throughout Europe and the States, said it was organised locally before he left.

He is digging out some old details.

Cheers

FU

It would ber easier to "Post" a "Thread" titled.."Who wants to lend Bernie a Cobra to drive around the States".

Sorry Hersh, I know you offered for next years DVSF.

I just received some written advice from the insurance company regarding insurance in the States. It would appear I should seek a quote from an insurance company there.

Something about accidents being assessed and repaired there etc.

I will try to get some quotes..

I guess the question is, has anyone travelled overseas ( particularly the States) with their own vehicle before?

...I need some advice if you have.
