Great Australia Day Cobra gathering spoilt by a NAZI Seargent!
Well it had to happen on Australia Day, MR SERGEANT at a routine breath test decided to book me $308 and 4 demerit points for no front number plate while the other officers shook their heads in disbelief as if they thought it was a little harsh! What a flippin' joke this country has become! I mean, go do your friggin' job properly and go chase the real culprits, I mean, we have crappy P Platers constantly crashing their multi squillion dollar souped up crap heaps and killing others along the way and many, many drink drivers doing the wrong thing all day every day, violent crimes all over the place and all the police can do is focus on fining someone (with a perfect driving history may I add) for no front plate! Fair enough a small fine would be sufficient I agree but where the heck do they come up with the $308 and 4 demerit points???, I wasn't driving eratically or doing anything crazy! I'd rather be booked for doing 200 kmh than this pathetic reason.
Just venting my anger here guys
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!!!!
Stef

Bugger!
Rotten luck,
I actually put my front one back on 2 weeks ago, thought my luck was running out.
Heaps of cops on the road on the way home.
Seams like a harsh penalty, I agree there could be better things they can do.

Hey Stef,
Lucky you had your street rims on otherwise that policeman you got today could have bent over and read the sidewall of those Good Year Blue Streaks. You know that little raised section of lettering that says ‘For Racing Purposes Only, Not For Street Use’!

Stef,
I agree, if we have to down Ozzie we down it for it's rules on rules on rules.
Too much bloody paperwork and not enough common sense.
I'm with you all the time on such issues.
Use your head not your quoto for the day, please

If it's any consolation, the fine is about the same in the States (at least in the state of Vermont).
Sorry to hear it mate.

Revenue Raising
Stef
That sucks!
I do know that if its a first offence, you can right a letter to tell them you have an impeccable driving record and a bit of a sob story and they usually let you off. The computer input to send you out a new fine is just too much like hard work (i know the girls that work in this section). If not it does buy you extra time!
Good Luck

Maybe it was a bit of car envy? Of course there is always some wretch willing to rain on anybodies parade to make themselves feel more important.

Sounds like typical NSW cops, if they r out in the sun being miserable, then they r happy to share the misery around. Rather like when Tom got stopped because they thought he had no seat belt. The young cop sees that he has when he steps up to the cat so asks for the engineering papers (which we keep in the boot). He proceeded to go through the papers going ah ha and looking at all the wrong bits while his female off sider sits in the drivers seat making like a 3 year old pretending to drive it. In the end we decided it was because she wanted to have a look at it. Tough luck on the fine though and see if u can dispute it by saying someone stole it that day.

I feel your pain Stef. At least you had a car to drive yesterday!!!!!!!
Same thing happened to me when I had an RX8. The cop rolled his eyes at my crappy excuse and gave me a warning. I take it you weren't out Penrith way!!!!!
Better days ahead,
Richard

bugger
Stef, only a few weeks ago I got pulled over for no front plate! However, I do have one but its on a hinge set up so when I'm doing 40+ it hinges back so it looks like it isn't there! For aesthetic purposes only! So while driving along a lady police officer jumped in front of me and pulled me over for having no front plate. She did the big double take when she walked around the front and saw it was there!!!!!
Officer.. You have been pulled over as you have no plte
Matt.. No plate officer....what??? really?! It was there when I left...
Officer..Sorry its not secured to the vehicle properly!
Matt.. Oh bugger, a screw must have come loose! I will tighten it as soon as I get home!
Officer..Is this you car??
Matt...Yes!
Officer...Are you single?
Matt.. Sure.. Yes..absolutley (for that 5 mins I was)
Officer..Your license please...
Matt.. Here you go..Would you like my number too to chek its been tighten properly??
Officer...Yes just in case...
Matt...OK
Officer...Right then Matt, have a nice day!
I was SOOOOO lucky!
SpookyPT
P.S. No I'm not telling you what happened when she called me that nighT!

Don't blame ya spooky. The words out so you can fess up.
The way I heard it was:
Spooky's front door...Knock knock
Matt opens the door in his jocks.....well, hello officer.
Officer .. Hmm, that's a fine example of aussie manhood.
Matt .. yeah well .. The cobra in the garage has nuffin on this snake.
Officer .. Last I saw the one in the garage was low on cubic inches too.
Matt .. very funny lady, how much to wrap ya laughing gear around this one.
Officer .. I really couldn't charge much....Like, I've seen bigger peckers during schoolies week.
Matt .. Smart bit&h, lets get this over with ... how much?
Officer .. tell ya what Matt.....wont cost ya a cent to stick that little thing in me mouth...but
.
.
.
It'll cost ya a bluddy fortune to get it back out again

Letter prepared today for Monday's post!
Rebel1, still laughing!
Well, the plate WAS in the boot and I showed him and actually did mention the cars' recent repaint etc and that special brackets were being made up. Tell you what though, this "person" sure wanted to show the world his authority. Today I went to bunnings, bought a couple of brackets, bent them to shape and presto, plate is on. .
This is the best way I thought without being an eyesore.
Hate having it there though but if it means keeping the buggers off me then so be it! I've been breathalized twice in it, followed by the Highway patrol several times in it (including yesterday going home straight after the fine), been told what a great car it is (by a female officer of course) and nothing, not a word, just admiration. I have several Sergeant friends who absolutely love the car and I had to stumble across the one with an inferiority complex. Anyway, what's done is done, I will send this letter off and wait for an answer, however should it come back unfavourable I will take the appropriate action to see if I could at least have the demerit points waived as I believe the demerit point system should be used when driving offences take place, using demerit points for this such offence is ridiculous!
Stef
