Default Option 1 Garage

I bought my previous set of tyres from tirerack and was amazed at their serivce also, as well as their competitive pricing. I bought 16"x8" & 16"x10" tryes which are next to impossible to get here.

Recently, I have been looking for some 17" Kumho KU36s (Ecsta XS in USA), much the same as boxhead (above). The quote was similar to boxheads as well:

245/45R17 KU ECSTA XS 137.00 USD
Rim Width Range 7.50 to 9.00
275/40R17 KU ECSTA XS 157.00 USD
Rim Width Range 9.00 to 11.00

FED ECONOMY (3-5 DAYS) - $ 240.27 USD

I did a bit of searcing locally and with the dollar the way it is, I have managed to source these tyres from Option 1 Garage in Brisbane (http://www.option1garage.com.au/) for about AUD$50 less than the complete quote from tirerack.

Doesn't take away from their great service though. The exchange rate is not their fault!!

Geof

That's an amazing coincidence Geof - I phoned Option 1 yesterday about my alternatives, and I'm heading over there in an hour to have a pair of 315/35/20 fitted. Kumho Ecsta's, which seem to get pretty good reviews. Option 1 are only charging $287 fitted - heaps cheaper than other retailers!!!

Option 1 seem to have built their business around servicing the drifters, but their pricing on all tyre brands/sizes is superb! Cheap freight by the looks of it as well if you're not near by.

Wazza - they must have a high school student there for work experience over the holidays...! I, like most, have heard nothing but perfect feedback for Paula and Enzo, so this is a much bigger deal than "just" your postage problem. If they're going to risk their reputation to try to keep a few extra bucks, their business will really suffer.

Finish Line seem to have a fan club of happy customers in the "All Cobra Talk" main forum here. A subtle (or even "Wazza subtle" ie: sledgehammer...) post over there will no doubt stir up a range of responses, but will certainly bring a resolution if you're not getting anywhere.

For anyone else wondering about this gentleman's subtlety, you really need to come to one of the Cobra Car Club (Queensland) breakfasts that are held monthly. Wazza gets up with a microphone and lets loose. Age, gender, persuasion, promiscuity, lack of promiscuity, racing prowess, clothing style, latest boyfriends/girlfriends, etc, etc Give him half an opportunity to pounce on any of these topics, and the audience is in for a roller coaster ride. Let me tell you, it's far better than paying money to see a stand-up comedian..... bloody hilarious!!!

Anyway, back to tyres and Finish Line...

I've bought through Option 1 a couple of times and have spoken to Storm Jury each time. Yes, that's his real name. No, he's not a Pro Wrestler or Porn Star...!

Warren,

Paula here from Finish Line and I just came in today and John gave me all the correspondence between you and Finish Line. John explained to me that you sent back the headlights that you had for 6 months which by the way is no problem to us. You can send back after two years for a trade if you want to. You requested Air Freight and we sent UPS. We paid that amount to UPS. We didn't charge you from Finish Line for that amount. We usually send the stuff in the slower method. We do not make money on freight and we have never ripped anyone off. I do have many happy customers in Australia and all around the world. If we hadn't paid for the freight I would refund you. If you were unhappy with the items I would refund you for anything other than freight.

Johnnie is actually a loyal hard working employee and he tries to do everything the customer requests. Sometimes you get an email back calling you buddy or telling someone you're pissed and will spread the word around the world really hurts and he had a stomach ache for 3 days thinking he would disappoint me and it wasn't his intention to upset you.

Warren - I'm sorry you are unhappy. I'm sorry I'm not here all the time to answer you soonerbut Enzo is battling lung cancer and we are at the hospital many days. I wish you the best.

Paula

Hi Paula,

Very sorry to hear about Enzo...

I had no idea that he was ill and I'm sorry to cause you any upset.

Believe me , I know how health is the most important thing in life, and I sincerely hope all goes well for you both.

I didn't mean to upset anybody, but felt it was important to at least write and voice my disapproval of being charged U.S.$130-00 , for the freight on three small items that could have been air-mailed by U.S.Mail, arrived in 3-5 days, and cost U.S.$28-50.

I've always been very happy with your excellent service, but it was upsetting to see this small purchase grow from U.S.$120-00 out to $U.S.$250-00 Including Postage .

When I wrote to you by e-mail, I had no idea that it wasn't you who would be handling this, and so after making it clear that I thought I was being overcharged by using my remaining $130-00 up in "Freight costs", I was surprised to only get the full e-mail reply of
"Sir you request air freight"...and no further explanation.

That is when I pointed out that the U.S. Mail will Air mail these items for the smaller price, I know you guys didn't "Take" my money, but I thought it could have been handled a bit better.

In any case..

I think we can move on, and if possible in future, I'd rather keep these discussions between ourselves rather than having to sort it all out on the forum.

Regards,
Warren.

I find UPS very expensive - United Postal Service

However USPS is less expensive - United States Postal Service.

If in the States you can purchase a pre paid box that holds 14lbs - 5.5kgs for under $100. This is the best way to send items back.

Ask for United States Postal Service - similiar to our Post Offices.

Further to the current US pricings, I approached my local Kumho agent about 8 weeks ago and asked for a quote, as expected the price was alot higher than from Tire rack.
I asked why when I showed him the tire rack quote.
He approached Kumho, they matched the price.
So I can only give thumbs up to Kumho Australia.

So I suggest you ask.
