Default Hole location for wiring to engine and front of car?

Another question if I may: What is the best place in a Harrison (probably the same for most kits) to put in the hole for the main wiring to the engine bay from the fuse box (in my passenger side foot well - built into the side panel).

I am thinking it is best to have the hole with the main body of wires for the engine, fan and front lights away from hot bits!

Hey Merv-

You can see where I have put mine through just below the fuel pressure gauge in the pic. It worked out well there with the holden loom, in that with the cable length the ECU ended up in a nice spot behind the door post on the passenger side, that I will cover with a kick panel. I actually routed all my wiring, including the the rear lights etc through this one large hole, and was abole to reuse the holden bung that made it nice and neat. The only other hole I have is a small one for the front lights\horn\fan, which comes out above the foot box and will attached to the underside of the left front gaurd.

Look at the passenger footwell, inside wall, you can see a cut-out at the top of the aluminium heat shield towards the rear, that's where our engine harness went across.

We actually ran wiring for front stuff (lights, horn, thermo etc) through the top chassis tubes. If you do, make sure you mark the tubes with tape and write on it, "warning wiring" while building it so you don't accidentilly drill into the wiring.

Merv,
My engine loom enters through the top of the tunnel behind the motor. The loom for the lights etc go through a grommeted hole just below the mudgaurd in the front of the each foot wheel. I have two looms under the bonnet which are tucked away under the lip of the bonnet opening.

best spot is look under the dash where u fit the wiper motor

then drill a hole thru there and u can run the wiring to the frnt end headlights fans etc
this way its kept under the lip in the enigne bay

or u can do like ben suggested we do on his car is drill a second hole thru to the wheel area so the wiring is totally hidden then run it to fron then under the radiator support frame work

there is afew spots for wiring to engine

u can also go thru hol enext to wiper motor then run it to wards drivers side along firewall

or u can drill hole in gbox tunnel and run engine wiring along top of gbox and to enigne

just go over how your loom is and see where best spots are

look at is a s a whole not as one loom at a time and try to picture where evrhting els eis in engine bay cause if u make a mistake then u have to redrill holes or relocate things

doesnt yr loom have a plug half way like most ford v8 looms

ford looms have bloody plugs everywhere

they have ecu section and then engine section then they have gbox section

pain in the butt and bloody expensive if u need to buy them new

In my RMC I ran the wiring through the chassis. It enters the frame through the RH side behind the door post and exits just beside the alternator. Only one single conduit is visible below the engine. you have got to look for it.

Thanks for this. Very helpful and now well under way. Two entries needed - one for the body harness and one for the engine. The body wiring is up under the passenger 'guard and runs to the front lights, etc. The engine loom will be determined by the loom that turns up with my 302, but probably in the RH too corner of the passenger footwell.

So far so good with the Painless harness.
