Question Classsic Revival Question.

This ones for the CR guys.
Im just about to tighten the large nuts that holds the hubs onto the 1/2 shafts at the rear end and was wondering if I should use a torque wrench or just tighten the hell out of them.
Ive never seen a nut made from slithers then held together by a casing and I dont want to scew it up by overtightening. If it does need a torque wrench can someone let me know what the setting is?

I can't remember the thread pitch of the half shaft but do yourself a favour, and throw away those puss ridden exuse for nuts and get a couple of nylock nuts.
I am actually impressed that you got them off without smashing them to peices like I did. I am not sure of the torque required as I asked the guy doing the cars first wheel alignment to check them and he did them up with a rattle gun.

I too have used Nylock Nuts and tightened them as tight as I could using a 3/4 inch breaker bar.

When I removed the old ones they where unbelievably tight, so figured that as tight as I could get them would be good.

Nylocks here too. Had to use a 36mm socket for them. And they can be a bit of a bugger to do up depending on the depth of the socket. Get some machined flat washers to go under them too.

As far as torque is concerned. Do them up fairly tight. Their job is to keep the axle in the hub and the hub in the upright.
