Cant say Ive weighed a lot of bonnets personally, although it probably only makes up 1% of the total weight of the car - drawing a long bow to then assume the whole car must then be heavy. Must be all the space age material (like "radiata pine") in the CR that makes it end up weighing less then an RMC.

The blown CR, is that David Sampson's car?
If so, his is one of the older original ones, I think it uses the early commodore IRS in the back.

Fat Ass
Thanks Andrew,
Yes my car is pretty heavy, I know the Dart Windsor block is very heavy and I also have a Lakewood steel bellhousing, rollcage etc etc. With the au rear end it all starts to add up.
I also think the fiberglass in the CR is very thick almost too thick in places.
However, the fat ass has done a 1.11 arround wakefield and an 11.2 on the 1/4 and that is the limit of the diff.
When I replace the diff I should run in the 10s fill the bottle up and should get me in the 9s.
Phil

Ok, found my listing of RMC cobra weights. Lowest was 1119Kg with a 302W. which I suspect is an early single rail car......then all the way up to a heaviest of 1266 Kg with an 5Ltr efi windsor. Quite beefy.
Lets say an average of 1250Kg which is some 100Kg (230Lbs) heavier than say a heavy CR (1150Kg) or some 300Lbs heavier than say a Harrison.
Tis an awful lot when you comparing apples to apples on a track.

Hey Les,
I do have one of those skulls that I have named after you; it is the one choking on a chevy badge.
And to answer your question it is one of the ugly ones.

1060KG for the rat rod racer CR when I registered it. Should be lighter now with the tubular rear end and side pipes fitted.
Cheers

You would reckon that an auto would be heavier, but then why was it quicker?

Go The Windsors
Its Our Mackay Rod And Custom Club Xmas Party Tomorrow, And We Have Hired The Palmyra Drag Strip For The Day, Which We Usually Do Each Year. Drag Racing All Day Then Party And Camp The Night. Theres A Lot Of Tough Cars In The Club Of All Persausions And The Usual Ford Vs Chevy Holden Banter All Year With The Chevy Guys Usually The Most Vocal About How Fast Their Cars Are,[ Ford S**t Etc ] But Theres The Old Saying When The Racing Starts The Bull**** Stops And Run Wot You Brung, If Last Years Any Indication, When The Tough Windsors Turned Up And Started Racing, Most Of The Chevy / Holdens Mysteriously Got Parked Up Finished For The Day With Various Excuses. At The End Of The Day It Was The Tough Fords Still Racing. Personally I Like Nothing More Than Smoking Hsvs. So Another Big Day Of Racing Saturday And We Will See What It Brings. Ill Bet Its Hook Line Windsor

Peace and love
Yes Bert has been getting all of my attention at the moment, trying to get him on the road soon.
The cobra tends to get me in a bit of trouble these days so I am quite happy to leave it tucked away in the shed. I though about selling it but I realised that i would not go thru with it. However an over the top offer would not be refused
Yes Andrew my cobra will be heavier than yours, because I didn't attack mine with the grinder
Ben, we should hit the drag strip now you are legal.
Phil
