Reconsider air tools, spray guns and sand blasters are necessary but die grinders , sanders and all that type of stuff uses a lot of air which makes the compressor run a lot. The electricity consumed by the compressor is far more than an equivalent electric sander etc.
Just a suggestion, the electricity prices in NSW are going to skyrocket soon (to discourage unnecessary power use ) on a peak / off peak charge system and I doubt you would be very popular using a compressor at 3:00 am .

Although a bit smaller than LPG tanks Truck airbrake tanks make good compressed air reservoirs and many of them are aluminium.

Wheels, radiator and QA1s. I've since painted all those raw suspension components glossy black.

looking good. What brand of wheels are they?

Is that a custom made radiator? Where from? How much?

sambo 08-16-2010 09:22 PM

Vintage Wheel Works (not Vintage Wheels).

Yep. Race Radiators. Enough!

Mine was $720.00 from there 2 years ago...2 core 1'1/4 tubes.

Very nice Paul! Looking great. Those VWW wheels, as we know, are identical to mine.

I will be offering mine for sale soon as I am getting some others as my rear end was the wider R33 jobbie.

sambo 08-16-2010 11:15 PM

Merv, mine is R33 and it seems OK at the rear - I used the same offsets too. What gives there? And what brand will you go for?

By the way, another Harrison builder down here was just asking me the other day about where I got mine. Let me know if you want me to put you in touch.

Zedn, I paid a little more but that included a Spal fan.

Merv and Sharon 08-17-2010 12:59 AM

Paul I find that with my new wheel alignment with less negative camber I want a more tucked in look. Dragway DB 121. My rear end seems unlike other Harrisons for sone reason.

Rog246 08-17-2010 01:02 AM

Merv, maybe you got an S13 rear end...they appear very similar ?

Rog:confused:

Merv and Sharon 08-17-2010 02:09 AM

Could be Rog. It is the 4.1 ratio - not the 4.3 diff. For what ever reason, I have the same offsets/backspace as about 5 other registered Harrisons and the same Vintage Wheel Works wheels. With the camber I am running they are not tucking in far enough to my own satisfaction. I meant (above) DB 131 Dragway. My existing wheels would fit any other Harrison, as experience shows. Maybe I am being picky.

Tried to send you a PM Paul - but your mail box is all full!

sambo 08-17-2010 05:45 AM

Sorry, try again Merv.

Beejay 08-17-2010 05:48 AM

Sambo,

Looks great.

Have you painted your engine too?!

Ben

sambo 08-17-2010 06:26 AM

Thanks Ben. No but once you start detailing things it gets pretty addictive!

stiffy 08-17-2010 05:28 PM

Great Progress

SAMBO,

Coming along just fine.....

What size are the wheels>??

STIFFY

sambo 08-17-2010 05:59 PM

Stiffy, they're 17x8 and 17x9.5. Hoping to start the beast on Sunday - my b'day - with no exhaust you should hear it from your place!

Merv and Sharon 08-17-2010 07:38 PM

Same size as my wheels. Seems a popular choice. Now remember the UTube Paul.

stumpeater 08-18-2010 03:36 AM

looking good!

Hi Paul, is the body still in gel coat or have you done some painting already? It looks good in the photo. Peter

sambo 08-18-2010 08:06 AM

Yep gelcoat Peter, with some gray pigment. I like the shape of the Harrison but the glass work is pretty rough in places - nothing the painter can't fix though.
