Keep plugging away you'll get there. Rgds Gregg

When I went to Vic Roads, they asked about it, I said it's a brand new car just come from the engineers doesn't need one, they were happy with that explanation.

My engine hadn't been registered before though as it was one of the LS3-LS7 swap engines that HSV did, maybe thats why they accepted that explanation.

Getting closer by the sounds of it though.

Welcome to tribe Paul. It's a long journey from vision and ambition, through the lows of regulation and legislation, to registration!

You have done a great job on that Harrison.

sambo 11-08-2012 04:53 PM

Thanks all.

Merv, cheers - it's like a weight lifted once you've beaten the system. Plenty more to be done, starting with a few "corrections" to the wheel arches, coil pack relocation, bigger scoop, full bumpers, period seats, stereo... **)

Slowy, I'll see you down there - provided you start making regular appearances. ;)

Dougie, saw some photos of your car in the paint booth, looks magic. When will we see it in the flesh?

Another big thanks to everyone who helped along the way - including the forum regulars over the years. The Cobra community is unlike any other car club or online forum I've come across and it's great to be a part of it.

Exhaust

Last week I purchased all the bits for a 2.5" system.

Half a day later...

Even without a tune the engine has really opened up in the mid and upper ranges and it's still pretty quiet thanks to those large mufflers and the x-pipe. A few minor adjustments where it's vibrating on the chassis and I'll be smoothing all the welds and painting in matt black VHT paint. Another piece falls into place!

d488y2 11-27-2012 07:15 PM

Nice Blends, looks Good and it's great to see your car is still progressing.
Are you planning a tune?
I can recommend APS

sambo 11-27-2012 07:56 PM

Thanks. I had a few things tweaked for the IM240 so I'll probably take it back there eventually - EFI Dynamics - as he's already unlocked the ECU and quoted a reasonable price for the performance tune. More than enough power for now - I want to sort the spring rates first so I can do some track days.

Sambo,
Nice to see the progress, thanks for posting.
Good luck with your IM240 test.

Big power is overrated... ;)

Errol did the tune on my car.

He's good. Taking my LS1 powered FJ40 there for some minor adjustments.

Looking good though. Exiting out the rear or just behind the rear wheels at the side?.

sambo 11-27-2012 08:56 PM

Dimis, I passed the IM240 a while back - the car is fully registered now.

TL, exiting to the rear but not visible unless you're lying down behind the car. Here's a photo before trimming. From the side/back it's level with the body.

I believe I have the same or very similar system Paul. Though I can't recall if it is 2" or 2.5".

sambo 10-19-2013 03:09 PM

A couple of photos taken yesterday after fitting one of the sidepipes. Hopefully finish the passenger side next weekend.

Wow Paul they look great. I remember fitting mine and just a trial fit on blocks made the whole car look different, Well done. Nice look. I notice you've tucked your front wheels in now? How did you do that? cheers Gregg

sambo 10-19-2013 05:57 PM

Thanks Gregg, although now it really needs paint now! Still rubbing the front of the wheel arch a bit over bumpy roads. Need to make some changes to the top control arm mount to allow more caster. I'm hoping that moves the wheel centre far enough back (viewed from the side) to open up the gap in front of the wheel a little. It would be nice if the wheel arches were a more even radius.

Yes a little more Caster would be good to get more concentric look at the front. It looks a tad forward at present. You wont know yourself once its painted. Cheers Gregg
