Hey Mike,
I've installed the Lucas system similar to yours, I thought rather than going back and forth it looked like to me that it used a worm screw concept and just turned the screw/shaft in different directions and the gearboxes took care of translating that in to back and forth movements.
Doesnt really matter, but I liked the idea as it means I didnt have to be too fussed about the screw shaft getting stuck.
P.S. I found a site which has the pin outs for the Lucas motor if anyone wants it.
