Default hello everyone!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and have a few question's about B&B cobra's. How difficult is it to build? Likes dislikes and so on? Also anyone do any racing? I am specificly looking to cruise but the occasional dragerace would not be out of the question not on the street of course! Thank's inadvance for answering A noobs questions.

Kevin

I had a fair amount of knowledge about cars before my build and now have a tremendous amount of knowledge after the build. You have good and bad build days but the payoff is fantastic!

Take your time, do as much research as you can, read this forum, etc. This forum is so helpful and was an essential part of my build.

Ask yourself what skill set you bring to the table and are you willing to take the time to learn more. Do you have friends who are knowledgeable about cars?

I built my car myself but in a way it is farthest from the truth. I called a friend of my mine many times, I used this forum countless times, placed a fair amount of phone calls to B & B and researched the hell out of the Internet.

While I did all of the wrench turning I still had quite a network of support.

Ditto to Jams,
I also had a fair amount of knowledge about cars, but in no way was I a mechanic by trade or car builder. The mechanical part to me was the easy part. The bodywork, interior, plumbing were much more difficult. Of course I believe that the majority of people have someone else do the paint and body work and also many buy a crate engine, so those two things can be simplified.
I wanted to do "all of it" by myself, but I agree with Jams in that this forum gave me a great deal of guidance through the build.
After completing it, I would not have chosen another manufacturer or done it any different!

First of all welcome. I did not build my B&B but have rebuilt a few cars. If you are a gear head you will figure things out. After having the B&B I really don't see anything that would be too complicated. I have to admit however I would not build an engine or paint. There are way to many people out there that are very good at that.

As mentioned before, know your limitations. Engine Bodywork and Paint are mine! Why apply a learning curve to a beautiful car.

Thanks for the replies, I have a pretty good mechanical background,ie I can rebuild motors and do the basic assembly work should be no problems there. my biggest concern is BODY work. Also how about drageracing anyone run thier B&B at the strip? Again thanks for taking the time to answer a noobs questions!

When you think about the car you are about to build think about its use and then decide the best possible components to meet those needs.

The B & B frame is a nice firm place to start. Decide how much HP you want/need make sure the rest of the drive train is up to snuff to handle it. Trans, rear end.

Think about your suspension - budget build= stamped steel parts vs. Upgraded Tubular A- arms etc.
Coil-over shocks vs. Traditional coil springs.

Think about your stopping power and your disk brake size -piston, etc.

I always like to over engineer this way I know the car can handle anything I send its way and I don't have to worry about breaking something---unless I do something stupid!

This would make your care ready for the occasional day at the strip or road

Keep in mind safety features that most of us add anyway weather we race or not. 5 point harness, fuel cutoff, battery cutoff, etc. It is a lot easier to build them into the car rather than add them later.

The B&B has a very rigid frame and the body is strong as well by using core mat.

Thanks for the replies, jams I plan to start ground up suspension, brakes, tiers and wheels ie traction is an issue with me and then the engine and trans. I tend to be very safety concious. those were good points and I will keep them in mind during my build, I want to be safe and keep it fun!

Again thanks for all the replies Kevin
