Default How do you wash?

Anyone using a waterless wash or a good ol' bucket and water?

Default Washing

When I owned my car, I used the bucket and hose, the good ol' fashioned way. I just made sure that I only pointed the hose away from the cockpit, when those areas were done, then I carefully did the leftover areas with a damp sponge.

I mean, who lets the car get more than a light coating of dust on it 50% of the time, cleaning shouldn't be that hard, of course I'm not sure there were any waterless cleaners around in 1985.

+1

I park it with the nose pointed towards the house; the gentle grade of the driveway keeps most of the water from running back into the cabin. What does manage to get in is easily soaked up with a chamois.

I use a Grit Guard in the bottom of my bucket to keep my wash mitt clean and stone free.

California duster and detail spray - that's all mine has needed for a dozen years, and she still looks new. She's also covered when not in motion.

My wife and I drive our collector cars, so I need to wash with water sometimes. A de-ionizing filter costs a few hundred dollars and is worth every penny for avoiding water spots. Griots has one, mine came from Costco.com. Particularly in the engine compartment and wire wheels. Three of our cars have chrome wire wheels, I use a rechargeable leaf blower to dry them. I spent a lot of time in the past with towels and banged up knuckles, until I saw some advice about using a blower. Dave

I use a product called Wet Paint. All I ever do is just wipe the heavy dust off with a Calif. Car duster and then put the Wet Paint on and wipe it off immediately. I also use it on the windshields and bugs just slide off with the swipe of a damp cloth. I have never used soap of any kind on any of my cars, but then mine aren't show cars either. The Wet Paint leaves a very slick and high shine. I can do a whole car with it in about 25 minutes and the Cobra was less as it was smaller.

Wet Paint Automotive Polishing Glaze: cleans, polishes and protects vehicle surfaces.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best stuff ever. I bought it based on your recommendation and some reviews I picked-up around the internets. Cleans everything. Chrome is a mirror, glass is streak free, paint looks wet. No need to wash, polish, wax any more!!!!

Same here. I've had mine for 18 years. I use the duster. When it gets bits of stuff on it I use detail spray.

Same here. I also use a little Zaino wax from time to time and clean the wheels/pipes when needed.

I only use a water/hose for the tires and wheels. I use waterless Meguiar's or Griot's with Griot towels for the paint/body. I also use Zaino Brothers paint products and Meguiar's Ultimate Detail spray with Griot towels. I use a California Duster before and after my drives.

For some reason I really enjoy getting the hose, soap and a rag to wash down my cars on a warm day. I made a towel with Velcro strips strategically placed around the cockpit to keep most of the overspray out of the interior. I use lots of water pointed in the right direction and very little gets into the cockpit. The wet paint stuff sounds good too. I use microfiber rags to remove the water. I should break out the leaf blower and try that too!

Have any of you used this under car paint that keeps a new car looking new? I guess it is clear.

It was advertised in Hot Rod or Hemming's a while back.

I thought many of you with a lift might have used it.

Does anything get stainless pipes back after turning blue?
