And from what I understand, the hose needs to be stamped 'Anti-Smog / PCV Hose' or similar verbiage. Unmarked hose, heater hose, fuel line and such will not pass.

Sheesh, I remember WAY back in the old days, back in 2008, when a PCV system wasn't required. Them were the days.
