Great news, Ed. Thanks so much to you Rick and everyone else, you guys are wonderful!

How are things progressing
Ed (DV) is the Ship date of 11/15 still on.
All involved, . . . . How are things progressing with funds, parts, etc etc. I believe that Doug (767Jockey) is looking into Edelbrock heads. The heads and the shipping of the car itself will be the biggest hit to his fund. Hope people are still reading this thread and donating to the cause if they have not done so already.
What are the chances of having the car completed for Doug by spring??? Anyone have any insights?? Doug?? DV???

Cobra Ed, etc.,
As far as I know of the 15th is the target date. I have boxes and boxes of parts, all of which aren't opened yet. Once Rick gets the car/parts that he has to me, I will be able to do a much better inventory of what is needed/wanted.
I have a 28 yr old Ford Master Tech. to assemble the motor and wire Doug's car. (I can wire but why when you have a real pro waiting in the wings?) He is also ready to assemble the motor but would like some help from some of the FE guys around here. He knows there are tricks to that trade and he is a little young to know them. (At least he admits to his limitations! )
Once I get the car here, I will lay out all the parts that have come in so we can all assess the goddies.
Done by Spring? It had better be !

If the difference between used and new is only $100, I'd get the new ones both for peace of mind and to cross one more item off your list.

Jegs price for new assembled heads @$1500.00., about $1200 bare heads. I would jump on these quick ! If that's not in budget, tell him the situation and make an offer.

Not my side of the build and none of my business what or where Doug gets his heads, so I may have got on the fence here. I called the gentlemen and left him my number since I have no idea when Doug is going to see this. Thought I would give the guy a heads up that maybe Doug was going to call and just touched on the circumstances.
ANYBODY else here have a comment/s on these heads? Not being a pro on FE's it sure looks to me like they have been done right?

Those heads belong to a very nice gentleman named Jase. I spoke with him about them a while back but just didn't feel that the time was right for me to jump on them. I'm just so nervous about using a huge chunk of whats left from the fund so early before the build gets started. There's already a $1275 chunk gone with transport, $1000 from NY to NH, and another $275for the trailer, plus I need to cover Ricks expenses, obviously. I don't want to get into a position where I owe wonderful folks money for work already done. I think the heads will have to wait until a no brainer deal comes along. Does that make sense to you guys? I want to make sure I'm thinking clearly here.

Ed and Rick,
You guys are great, thanks to you guys for all of the time you are putting in to make this happen. I wish (like I am sure many others) that I was in the vicinity to help lighten the load a bit on you guys.
Doug, I hope all is going as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Hang in there, and soon you will be behind the wheel of your car enjoying the ride.

Thanks, Jay - I appreciate the kind thoughts. This is going to start happening soon and I can't wait. It seems that all the parts have been assembled to make it happen with just two exceptions, only a set of Edelbrock heads and an emergency brake handle and cable are missing. Once I have the parts located and bought we're good to go! Ed "DV" Combs, DCDoug, Rick Lake, and Cobra Ed got this thing organized, so many incredible guys have stepped up with parts and funding - I don't know how to begin to thank everyone. The first time I fire this thing up is going to be a very emotional and significant day. I'm going to fight like heck to make sure that when the car is ready that I'm healthy enough to get there and drive the darned thing. Hey, DV - have mercy on this sick old boy and please don't finish it until it's warm enough to drive up your way!

Get back in the Gym
767 Jockey Ok the long vacation is over. Time to get back in the Gym. I have to talk to Ed tonight, I think to save money I will be driving to Mi. It doesnn't make any sense to burn up all that money for a rental truck and trailer. Have to get a Sat swap. Could leave Friday night and catch Ed's by Sat night. 580 miles, It's not that bad. I will talk to you over the week Rick.

Rick,
Your call of course and it's not like I love the 800 mile (Round trip for me) in 24 hrs, BUT.... I already paid the guy for the trailer thinking we were going to use it one way or the other. He already confirmed the trailer for our little delay.

Leaving tonight with car
767 JOCKEY Doug, talked to Ed and trying to save some money. I'm driving your car out to Mi. Should be there tomorrow night if all goes well. Ed would have had to do a double trip plus rent of the trailer. Weather looks great, hoping for hot shower at Ed's. Mapquest has 855 miles. It may be quicker to go 80 and pay the tolls. Have to check. ED I will call you in the evening before I leave. Rick L.

Not to worry!
Rick did an A+ job of delivering "Doug's Toy". Not a scratch, wrapped like a new born baby! Mrs. DV, Bobbie, (Our ACE Ford tech.) myself and Rick got his Toy unloaded and in the shop without a hitch!
Rick looked a little whipped, naturally, but couldn't be talked into staying the night or even getting something to eat. He left home the night before at mid-night and finally left my shop, again at mid-night, leaving Doug's Toy in my care. A little dusty but yet still a beautiful Blue,(with white stripes).
I'll try and get busier and get some pictures posted! All down hill from here!
A lot more to come.

Whoa! What did I miss here, I thought this was happening tomorrow! Wow, you mean it's already done! Wow, I can't believe that Rick got it over there already. Rick, you're amazing! I can't believe the fuse is officially lit on this thing and it's all about to begin, I'm in shock - a wonderful, pleasantly surprised shock. Rick Lake, I have no words to thank you. You're one amazing guy.
DV, the patient is all yours now! I can't wait to see the progress. As I come home from my daily radiation treatments (starting in aprox. 4 weeks) they tell me I'm going to be sick as a dog. This will surely ease the pain as I watch the car progress. All of you who have played a role in this, I am just awestruck by your generosity and kindness, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. No one has EVER done anything like this for me, ever. Thank you all SO very much. I'm just amazed by all this still, and will be forever. Thank you all, to an amazing group of people. Thank you.
Doug

OK,
Two things to do, Get better of course! The second thing to do is grab one of those Military Pilots that you must know. Especially one that fly's a C-47 or the likes. Having a little experience about leaving a perfectly good airplane in flight I know they can "chute" your Baby right out the back over the UK. Wont even hardly feel a bump on landing!
Then "Both" of you can experience the thrill of cruising the "Mother Land!"

48 hours
767 jockey Well Doug may work was easy compared to Ed's job. Carr looked great. A hair under 1,700 miles. Hit rain all the way from Ohio back to Jersey.
Ed is going to go through all the boxes of parts to see what you need to finish the car. Left NJ at 12:15 am and got back 1:30 am mon. Except of a truck with a trailer on fire, it was a quiet ride. Talk to you soon.

You're a good man Rick Lake!!
Thank you for all you have done in the past for anyone needing help. You may grumble about this or that but you really are a good guy and people know that. Thanks Rick for being yourself.
