Well ... I'm with Doug ... both the Super Coupe and Willment Coupe see to have lost the good looks DNA of the Daytonas.
That being said, great photos of the cars ... in particular CSX2299 posted by Buzz.
Question ... for the 'lost' Daytona CSX2287, does the rear wheel seem pushed forward relative to the wheel well opening in the body, or is it due to the perspective of the photograph ?

The new special edition SPF by Exotic Auto Restorations did a great job of making the ho-hum SPF look NICE!!!! I think I've just wet myself.

Don't forget the factory built AC coupe built in England by AC cars for LeMans. Unfortunately it was destroyed the first time out at the 24 hour race in 1964. A truely beautiful specimen.

As far as replicas go, there was the interesting Johnex 427 Coupe; supposedly based upon drawings of a never-released big block coupe variation. There was some controversy about it being misrepresented as a Super Coupe replica while actually being based more on the Willment design.

At first I thought it might be a replica of 2286 in its original 3" stretch version,,, but in the 'Shelbys Wildlife' book there is mention of a partially completed second FE engined car that was still in the UK & might have had links with Alan Mann etc... could this be the car that inspired this Johnex car?

I seem to remember seeing a picture of an unfinished coupe here that was in Larry Miller's collection or maybe at the Shelby American Collection.

Here's a Contemporary Daytona for sale on ebay for just under $80k. Built in 1995. Only 130 miles on it. Some nice photos.....

Which Coupe' to Coupe'?
Hey Buzz, thanks for posting the pictures so nicely so we can all compare and dream...
How about posting the pictures of the rebuilt AC A98 Coupe?
The original I mean, not the replica built in Australia
(It is beautifully done too)
It is by far my favorite and it has the great history of (in)famously going over 180 mph on the road in England. Which over time has erroneously been attributed to a Cobra.
Here is where I found the pictures:

Kinda reminds me of a Kellison. I like that the cars all have their own quirky features. I like the shape of CSX2287, The Super Coupe & the Willment coupe. They seem to have more of a 60's Race Vibe than the more refined smooth look. To each their own but I'd like to see a little rougher paint on the original cars. Make em at least "look" like they have a lot of history

Sounds plausible to me. Alan Mann is mentioned in connection with the Johnex coupe and it was supposed to be based upon an uncompleted big block design. It would be interesting to learn more about it as well as what actually happened to the Johnex project. Were any ever fully completed and sold?

I was curious to see what the Johnex coupe looked like in profile so I buttoned 'er up. To me it looks like a cross between the Willment coupe and a Daytona.
