Are they real? The hooters that is.

aumoore 07-05-2003 08:32 AM

Dan

If we have a waxing event hosted by hooters girls will you come? What does it take to get you out of south florida? Naked women? I actually thought the Hooters girls was a rumor started by Spyderman to get us to show up but they actually were there. It is kind of amusing to see 50 plus sweaty guys in racing gear forget there is a car race and get drawn like flies to a flame when cute women in orange shorts show up with food.

Tommy
I can laugh because there was very little damage to the car. The underside of the hood has a few soot spots that I need to get rid of and a few of those plastic wire covers I put over the wiring are a little warped but the damage was just minor so I am fine. I an trying to figure out why the windshield cracked. It looks like it was a stress crack because there is no evidence of an impact.

Johan where are your comments? Did you have fun and are we welcomed back?

Spyderman 07-05-2003 08:43 AM

I got back yesterday, and Johan is not back yet. Still at Roebling road I guess or at least his car is. He lost his voice from yelling at me all week.
I thought things went well , the weather could have been worse, and the cloud cover actually kept things cool.
It sure goes by fast, and there is always the next time, but I wish
they were about to call group "not" to the grid.

Ruble,
Speaking of waxing did that fire mess up the wax on your hood? I have some yellow paint left so we could reshoot and then wax it for the next race. I do try and stay in Florida during the winter months but actually just got back from DVSFIII in Ohio( I try to make Ohio only in the summer months). I won't be at the Reptile Roundup this year either as I will be spending a week in Vegas. I was the first to cancel as I had already made plans for Vegas. The wife took me last year for my birthday in March but we froze our asses off. I'm thinking of buying a Pinto or a VW with a Chevy engine to kick some butt. I hear that the Lola with the Chevy engine running badly was still out in front.

STILL wearing my drivers wrist band: My red (and white checkered) badge of courage: hat will I do come Monday and have to go back to work.....?

ToyCollector 07-05-2003 10:18 AM

Ruble, I want to again say how glad I am that you most importantly were able to avoid any injury, and that the car was largely unscathed with the oil line coming loose.

I watch my in car footage last night of 3 sessions that I look forward to sharing with Johan and Spyderman, as well as DC.

I know many of you thought this Spyderman guy was all talk, but that Pinto go-kart he has kicked but.

Spyderman 07-05-2003 11:06 AM

Donnot try to buddy up to me toy fellow. You were IN MY WAY as much as anybody. I do'nt know what kind of doctored up footage you have to be so proud of either.Maybe must have been one of the Hooters girls driving somebodys car ? You were cheating and using a cool suit, and I hear you kept on going over to Johans for free meals with DC as much as three times a day. I will tell the Tornello kids your address if you keep picking on me. Actually, the Tornello kids were pretty good but I hope they do not taake Katate lessons.

aumoore 07-05-2003 11:07 AM

The Lola is basically a big go cart with big wings, extremely wide race tires and a chevy V8. It weighed about 2000# less than the winston cup cars so yes it should have kicked butt. The Pinto powered spyderman car was almost as fast and in the corners was probably faster. The Chevy motor had no part in how fast it was and actually the cup cars were faster in the straights some with chevy and some with ford power.

Heck there was a turbo Miata there that was pretty fast in the corners. I could barely stay within range in the corners and I was only about 10mph faster in the straights.

I guess I need tires to really play with the big boys.

As for the Cobras Tom Jones kicked butt with his 347 stroker powered FFR. Those Kumho victoracer tires were awsome.

This will be the start of pics I took while at the Willis. For some strange reason, they all have Hooters girls in them. Spydee, clean your computer screen when you are done looking at them.

Now we know why Johan was sniffing the top of the GT40 seats for the rest of the day.

Johan showing girls a dirty spot and then explaining how he will want it rubbed off. This is the last photo I took, cause the tops of their shirts got dirty after that.

Look carefully and you may see a race car in these next pics. for some reason, Johan could not get out of the car for minutes after the in car pics. Something about a bulge in the cockpit getting in the way ;)
