The rest of the guys that have no number will eventually make one out of tape or I'll have some spray paint at the track. I wonder if Enzo at Finish Line sells the stick on meatballs and number sets.
JW, Finish Line has 16" diameter static cling vinyl meatballs (black numbers on white background, set of four) for $55.

We can make numbers out of masking tape or just scratch them in with a screwdriver, and seriously, we can put them in the upper right hand corner of the windshield with white shoe polish, so the number issue is no big deal. We just need a way to identify the cars by radio .
:eek::LOL: :LOL:

Mike :MECOOL:

BTW, did you receive the e-mail I sent you last week with my mailing address?

Agingracefully 05-14-2003 12:45 PM

Johan--My car's number is 86, a number I heard often during my drinking days:LOL:

JW: "Stephen" from Marietta GA is the Viper Coupe owner. I MAY jump up to Group II to run with the 944's_will see when I get there. cb

Engineer Ed 05-15-2003 05:52 AM

Johan,
Thanks for the phone call last night.
I think this is going to be one hell of a weekend.
Renee and I are looking forward to celebrating the birthdays with you.
We should arrive at your place sometime around 2:00-3:00 Monday. With us will be the Pomroys and Jones's.
Not sure if we will stop at the hotel first to drop off trailers and unload or head straight to your place.
Depends on what time we get there.

I just sent you my address and fax number in a private message.

BTW, my car # is 97.

Ed

To those attending,

If you haven't already, pick up an issue of Vintage Motorsport Magazine so you can appreciate the background of some of the participants in group 3. You may see pictures of some of them. Spyderman doesn't count.

ToyCollector 05-17-2003 09:53 PM

JW,

You are letting a guy on the track with a V-8 Corvair? Can I let him drive my Cobra instead so we can all be safe????? I haven't met him yet, and I am not sure I want to  %/ **) :JEKYLHYDE

Agingracefully 05-18-2003 12:40 PM

Mike---

You might be surprised, When you put a v-8 in a corvair, you put it in the back seat so the balance is improved. The real weak link seems to be the fact that the builders don't complete the job by putting in a ford motor:LOL:

You are correct about the the drive list, though- we should be able to pick up some good pointers; lord knows I need some. We realy need Jon Grand to come down to show us how to get around that track.

Rick

ToyCollector 05-18-2003 01:01 PM

Rick,

John Grand is amazing. He "came out of nowhere" and is dominating I Class lately. Pete Mansolillo and Kerry Singley are not happy on being de-throned ;) . Of course the fact he can pull away from my 2.7 liter down the straight with a 2.5 is cause for concern

aumoore 05-18-2003 01:33 PM

Car Numbers

What Numbers are taken? I would like #009 or 09 if possible and I can right this in big letters on the windshield right?

Tommy 05-18-2003 05:29 PM

Ruble -
009? Does that mean you're licensed to shift?

aumoore 05-18-2003 07:25 PM

No licensed to kill parts. LOL

Actually I have chassis #009 just wished I could have had #007 then I would have to chase the women away. :)

Agingracefully 05-18-2003 08:05 PM

Mike--

Jon is swift, but he did pass a protest tear-down recently. Remember, he weighs about 125 lbs. wringing wet. He really did come out of nowhere, I met him about 18 months ago at a DE when he brought his 996 -- he had just gotten his 944 and was prepping it for racing. Looks like he's a pretty quick study!

Maybe its just as well that he won't be there, there won't be all that pressure to go too fast. One thing to consider is that Jon uses 15 inch rims and thus a smaller rolling diameter for an effective lower gearing and better acceleration. I'm thinking of trying some 15's for comparison.

Johan 05-19-2003 07:51 AM

Oh boy this is some exciting news....
Stan Wattles, the Indy car (retired) driver has confirmed he is coming and might bring his Lola T92/10 #4. This is the Lola Judd v-10 Coupe. Loud and fast , this car is capable of winning the pole at any contemporary long distance race, even though it is now a vintage racer.I'll try and put up a picture of it.
He is also bringing his ex Bob Akin Porsche 962 #5,and for those brave enough, is mounting a passenger seat. I'm putting some GTP car "in car" camera footage from Lemans on the Roebling Road "in car" footage so you know what we are talking about here !
I've kept up with the number requests and have up dated the entry list.

Johan,
Stop posting to this thread trying to keep it at the top as a stickey, if you had come to Silver Springs with your toys I would have seen to it that this thread was a stickey. What I really want to know I'm I getting to you yet??????? You know our corporation papers says our club has to have a annual meeting once a year. Maybe Ed can get you to sponsor our 2004 annual meeting closer to home, hell I'll be there. Will you?
Dan Wulff

Johan 05-19-2003 01:52 PM

Not if I see you first !
Can anybody find and post a picture of a Lola Judd T92/10 ? They only made 4 of them. I would ask Stan to post a picture, since it is his car, but then I would have to tell him where to post it and when he saw how off-topic and one sided these hijacked threads have become he might change his mind about wanting to share the track with us.

Please, consider the entry list closed until further notice. We are now full, although I do expect some cancellations.

I'm still spending a solid 15 minutes a week on the invitations/maps/schedules, which can be faxed or mailed, depending on what info you gave me. Thanks, this is going to be a lot of fun, and I'll check back from time to time to see if there are any additions/deletions.

Johan-

I told my son Erik about the fabulous collection of extreme machines attending the WW and he is beside himself--

Who needs the Monterey Historics?

Thanks again for making this possible.

Nice quote John! :p

Sorry TC, apparently my quoting skills are lacking, but I am trying to keep the entry list on the last page for easy reference.
