If HSR runs the event, no need to do lunch. If they don't, Sunday is fine.
The usual cost of an HSR weekend at Roebling is around 400 dollars (entry fee)for the three days. If I sponsor the event and pay a portion of many peoples entry fee, that should make the entry fee 200 or so. I still pay for the track, and HSR still makes money , so they are backing out the track rental from the entry fee.
I'm hoping this works out. If not, we'll have to improvise. Screw lunch and bring 12 packs, that's what I say. Eat at the concession stand.

Wow, this is great!
Spent the night changing rear view mirrors on my cars to the magnifying ones so that I can still see the cars back there for a little longer as they drop out of sight.....
Also, those twelve packs do not mean 6 Hooter's girls....or do they?

How about ordering wings and screwing the Hooters gir..... OK, I'll keep this clean and not go there.
It may get Terry all excited...
Speaking of Terry, there are a few things you may want to know.
click on the link below. Dont say I didn't warn you.
http://www.reelwavs.com/movies/chris...msleghound.wav
Johan,
Do we have a way to keep a keg cool over the weekend?
I know the track has an ice machine, but do we have access to it?
So, does this mean the DSCC doesn't have to worry about anything except kicking Johan's butt on the track?
J you are making this too easy.
Of course there is still our humble DSCC offering to the host and the birthday boy. Y'know, tradition!
OK, so the schedule is what???
The reason I ask is because it's a bit confusing.
You mentioned the the HSR wanted you to reserve the track for Friday buththen you said Friday night is the welcome party.... possible typo?
Thursday: Arrive at the track, drop off trailers, register with HSR and start drinking????
Friday: Track day I.
Saturday: Track day II and Beach party?
Sunday: Track day III (not-race / 1hr enduro)?
Ed

I had a conference call with the owners of HSR today and they agreed to do the event for next year, but have not yet made up their minds for this year. They are making calls to their people to see what can be lined up. At an HSR event, there are several, perhaps 10 , HSR people that work the event. From timing and scoring to rig parkers to pit lane workers , registration people, competition director, race control, tech inspectors, etc, and they all have to travel to the track by various methods from different states and then stay in hotel rooms with transportation. Lots to coordinate for an event 6 weeks away, with an as yet unknown (but fairly small) number of attendees..... but,
I think the're going to do it ! I offered them a check to cover the expenses of the event and they will refund to me a portion of the 1/2 price entries, and only up to my investment, plus I still am to pay for the party.
SO,
If we keep Friday,
Thursday is the first welcome party, in the Motel parking lot perhaps.
Friday is a practice day with 5 run groups running about 4 times each. which is actually pretty much , about the same as last year.
Friday night is the fairly brief welcome party at the track, whether we ran that day or not. The gates close around 9:00 PM
Saturday would be practice and/or qualifying sessions followed by qualifying race (or not-race). A practice is a practice and times don't matter for the next sessions grid. The difference in a qualifying session and a qualifying race is that a qualifying session is not a green flag race but a time trial by fastest lap to obtain grid position.
A qualifying race has an 1,2,3,position outcome that determines grid position based on finishing position , not lap times.
Saturday night is the night to consider staying at the Hilton Head Holiday inn or Red Roof Inn because we'll be having the party there.
Sunday is a warmup session and some different types of races that need to remain a secret for now.
It is probable that some of you that have a lot of DE experience and capable cars of a vintage nature, such as Ruble, Terry, Ed with a little work, etc
could get an HSR comp license and par ticipate in the group 5 races (Mustangs, Jaguar XKE's, Porsche 911's, etc.
This is the tentative schedule, and if HSR can't do it this year, that's in no way a deal killer.
We'll just suffer through another year of finding our way in the dark. We'll just make do. DSCC can jump in and provide some help as it is required either way and it will be soon known what we can expect from HSR.

Johan,
The schedule sounds great.
With or without HSR, we will undoubtedly have a great time.
Lets not stress about it, lets just look forward to seeing good friends, drinking beer and chasing each other around on the pavement for a few days.
If needed, the DSCC will definitely jump in to help in any capacity as well as hosting the party at the hotel on Thursday night.
We appreciate all the hard work you are putting into the Williswood event.
Let me know if you want me to send you a list of the drivers attending as part of the DSCC?
Ed

Eventually, Ed, yes.
The biggest difference in HSR, no HSR is the racing.
With HSR there is racing in most groups and passing rules in the rest of the groups.
Without HSR it is a high performance driver's education event.
With HSR,we are adding Friday.
Without HSR ,Friday is an option.
We'll see how it goes over the next few days.
The smaller group without HSR has a lot of benefits and would be more a more relaxed style. I'm good to go either way.

Oh yes, we can keep a keg cool, but remember there is no dinking beer until all cars are done for the day, even if the drinker is done.

BEATS THE HELL OUT OF CHASING THOSE HOOTERS GIRLS AROUND - NOW, IF I CAN LEAVE CAROL HOME THAT'S A WHOLE NOTHER STORY!
I'm heading back to NC tomorrow, and won't have access to a computer for awhile - so if ya'all decide about Sunday lunch, let me know via my cell phone (561) 632-6769 - I've got the Bar-B-Q place set up and on hold for now. I checked into them serving but the sister's BOOTYS are way TOO BIG for those Hooters outfits.
The DSCC could do the serving and save us some $$$; right now the cost for a buffet lunch would be the same as we spent last year, with more food, just not the girls
Who has the "IN" with the "Cafe Risque"????? RUBLE?????
Johan - Thanks for the compliment for the HRS license - I guess one needs an "off course excursion" to qualify now.
Later guys, need to get some work done today.
MOVING SUCKS

Johan,
It really doesn't matter to me what we do.
I'm really just looking forward to seeing you and the guys again.... and lets not forget "getting the chance to pass some of my DSCC brothers".
Oh how I wish Gainesville would allow passing!
We all look forward to the Willis event every year and cant stop talking about the fun we all have.
I'll see about the keg. I'd have to find a vendor in the Pooler area.
I'll keep intouch with Terry about the food stuff.
We may plan to have the Bar-B-Q folks provide dinner at the DSCC welcome party, whatever day that may be.
So, I guess we are going to do this at the hotel now rather than the track? I know a lot of this is premature right now until we nail down HSR and the official track days. Terry and I are flexible and will get the wheels turning either way.
Keep us posted.
Ed

Some of your "DSCC brothers" were at Sebring to day. Practicing "point-by's" for ya. Where were you? I supose Sebring's too easy for a driver of your caliber.
If Jerrry ever gets some stickey tires, watch out. Nobody will be able to keep up with him.

So Jimmy, how did things go at Sebring?
I've been busy working on Robert's Cobra the past few weeks.
Just finished up the frame modifications today.
I had to cut the rear frame to make room for the 10" tires he is going to be running.
We are bustin our butts getting his car ready for Roebling.
The car is apart right now getting ready for paint.
Robert doing the body work and I've got the frame work....
Lots of work to do the next few weeks.
Paint is planned for June 4th.
Thanks for practicing the point-by's.
I cant tell you how much I appreciate it.
Ive got wheel parts shipping to me this week so I can check clearance for the new race wheels for the BDR's.
You wont need a set since you dont race your Cobra
Tom got his engine back this weekend and is supposed to be running it at Gainesville next weekend.
Hope you guys had a great time.
Sorry I missed it.
I'm headed to Ocala tomorrow to build a work shop for my brother-in-law. He just bought a house and needs a place to run his business.
Cheers,
Ed

Jim -
Don't you think you're asking too much of Ed? How can he go as fast as he can if he's constantly looking in the mirror and taking one hand off the wheel to give points by? I think we should get him one of these foam fingers to mount on his roll bar so he can devote his entire attention to the task of driving.
