Rick, how's your push to break 1:12 at Roebling ?
Some knife ! and thrown from practically a pro - driver to boot. I'm out there in a frail antique up against the next century's technology . The best is I can hope for is a "ducks-in-a-row" situation !

Johan - I've got some great tires for you. They have a steel belt, might take 2-3 for a rim, but if we smear Gorilla Snot on the sidewalls I bet your life they would hold. We could take my plasma torch and pop them a few places to loosen up that 15 year old rubber, damn they would run fine...........
are you in?

I'm not getting a feeling that HSR is able to accomodate our event. In all fairness, there were three bad accidents at last weekend's event at Road America and the HSR/SVRA people are probably still up there (three life flights- due to a wet, cold track).
Looks like we may be on our own this year again.
Let's party like our parents are out of town !

I'm still in!
Since the HSR is unlikely to help out, tell me when you need me and the DSCC to do.
The sooner the better!
So, are we back to a two day event?
Do I need to change my hotel reservations again...
I the welcome party moved back to the track or shall we have it at the hotel as per our last conversation.
J,
I'm headed up to Gainesville this weekend to get in some practice....
I'll give you a call on Monday to discuss the changes.
Our prayers go out to the drivers involved in the incidents at Road America. Renee and I hope they are all OK.
Ed

Ed, main thing is....
Don't ask me any questions.
I wanted HSR to do the event so I would not have to organize it .
Seriously, unless you bring more than one set of tires, you can't make it three days at Roebling with 4 or 5 sessions per day.
We have the option of Friday, but is it really worth several thousand dollars more ? I just don't think so if the event is small and there are so many sessions per day. Does the DSCC want to rent the track for Friday and have your own gig ? perhaps a possibility.
The welcome party was fun in the parking lot. I'll be drinking my beer at the paddock to help people get in and set up. Do whatever moves you.
I don't know if you need to change your reservations or not. I think I would wait until the day before the deadline to change them (if it were me). Not including DSCC, there will only be 20-25 cars, and we'll just work it all out.
One wreck was a blown motor on the straight that sent the car into the wall.
Another was 5 cars going off at turn one in a pack when they hit oil.
Let's be careful and anticipate the unforseen. Leave a little room when driving up a straight, maybe half a car width, so that a blown tire or motor won't put you in the grass and then, the wall.
Watch the cars in front of you , and if they all seem to slide at the same time, it is oil.
I'm starting to look forward to this. Only a few weeks to go !

J.
It will be great, without a doubt!
I know this HSR thing must frustrate you.
If there is something I can do to help, please feel free to ask.
DSCC rent the track for Friday… not a likely option.
We are more than happy with the two days.
To be honest, we would rather kick in $$ to help you with expenses than rent the track for a “really not needed” extra day.
OK, make-shift itinerary:
We will plan to have the cookout-greeting party at the track on Friday afternoon/evening.
Party till they kick us out….
This way you can participate in the cookout and play parking host at the same time.
Saturday is practice and general track day…?
Saturday evening is beach party?
Sunday is more track time with a couple “not-races”….?
Sunday night is more drinking beer and partying at the track!
If things change we will play it by ear.
Looking forward to a great event.
Don’t worry about keeping a schedule; have we ever followed one anyway?
Ed

Will the party who suggested the Togas please take a look in a full length mirror and revise the request?

Ed, the track manager says no party Friday night because the insurance policy for the track starts on the first day the event is run. I always wondered about that.
Anyway, Motel parking lot is good for your party, like last year, and the track will be available Friday evening to unload or set up as well. The Gates will close at some time around dark.

No problem...
Hotel parking lot it is.
The good news is we wont have far to carry Ruble after he falls down drunk.
Man I just hope he will be wearing shorts beneath the toga.
J, See you in a few weeks.

I never bother to plan this junk because it seems to work out so well on it's own. I had a blast last year in the parking lot !

Johan,
I'll email you the list tomorrow.
So, are we (DSCC) back on for bringing in lunch on Sunday?
I'll get with you via email to work it all out.
Ed

Steve, I'm sure you can be somebody's pit crew or something. Maybe spyderman's. There are track rules that must be followed and one of them is "No Spectators". They are not insured for non-participants. Do you know someone that is coming ? perhaps you could be their pit crew .
Ed has sent me the list and the groups are full now. Car numbers etc are already being determined.
By the way, Ed Kamptner needs everyones address so that the info packets can be mailed out.
Expect to hear soon from Rob Ginn of McMichael motorsports. He is our Cobra group leader this year. Be sure to thank him for taking on this nasty job.
Rob is in charge of Cobras getting Teched, but you as the driver / owner are RESPONSIBLE for the Cobras passing tech. This is a small event, but we are going to have a safe time . The tech info will be in your info packet so let's have those addresses (to Ed).
Thanks !
Johan

Johan-
Kind of out of the loop on the numbers thing, but here are ours:
Rick Brownyard #86 Porsche GT-3 Cup
Erik and Adam Brownyard #861 Porsche 944 natural
Rob Papa #186 Porsche 951
Cory Friedman #14 Porsche GT-3 Cup
If any numbers conflict it will probably work out o.k. since we will be running either in group 4 or 5 with these cars.
Let me know if I need to get out the duct tape.
Rick

John,
Not sure which I am bringing this year but 70% likely Porsche 944 #58, 30% possibly Pontiac Grand Prix #40.

Mike-
Bring the 944 so that we can finally go out and play together! We have never actually had the opportunity to do that.

Play? You mean my watching your rear taillights get smaller and smaller? I guess it would be good to get a little schooling from you on how to master Roebling in that car as I continue to leave a few seconds/lap on the table compared to you. BTW, the fact I have not tracked the car in over a year is not going to help my case either.

TC,
How about bringing out the Kirkham? I would love to see it.
Johan,
I still don't have a mailing address in Cashiers so I may be out of the loop on the mailing part; I'll check in with Rob and Ed for updates.
Ed,
I'll call you re: the catering and other stuff.
TL (in Fla. for now, but heading back north in a few days)
Damn, my a$$ is getting sore from all the driving back and forth
