It gets pretty complicated sourcing the compatible outboard-braked rear suspension. The XJ-S used the old suspension layout for a couple of years past where the rest of the Jaguar line had changed to the new layout using a stamped lower control arm. For those odd years, they made new hub carriers with brackets to fit the outboard calipers, but the rest of the hub fit the old dog-bone lower control arms. Eventually, the XJ-S was renamed the XJS and there was a complete redesign to fit the new rear suspension that was common to the rest of the Jags. |

Here's a link to pictures of the original car we want to replicate. Marilyn is so excited about it, but wants the Dewey Street gang to build it instead of me. I guess I was a bit obvious having her sign that life insurance policy, but I'll be happy to point to Doug if and when there's a problem! LOL To the link:Legendary Motorcar - Home of Dream Car Garage

I've seen one in this color combo. Nice looking car! Should be a fun little car to drive!

Here is the latest on Woody's ERA3002 slabside build; narrow white wall tires. It doesn't look like the motor is in yet, but at least he can roll it around.

Hey Jim,That's what we're looking for.Love the look of the narrow whitewall. Took Marilyn over to beat up the Mario Brother yesterday, but he wasn't giving out any info. She was upset that my car was down this weekend and she got me drunk Sunday night and coerced me into saying I would let her drive it! Dam that bourbon! LOL I haven't seen her this excited about anything in a while and Peter did say he had a production frame done. She's not that patient, but I'm sure she knows it's worth the wait. Hope you're well and enjoying the god weather.

 Jim,
Do you know what motor & transmission setup Woody plans to run?

 LMH:
Woody is using an "outer lace" wire wheel as opposed to the "inner lace" shown on the original 289 early in this thread.

 tkb:

I will ask Woody about the drive train specs. I do know that he is using an early small block, but I don't recall what he is using as trans. In our ERA3001, I installed a TKO with the longer 5th (ie; . 0.64) with a 3.77 rear. Were I to do this setup again, I think I would use the .80 gear.

A popular combination for the FIA cars is the TKO 600 with the 0.82 OD and a 3.54 rear. Would imagine that should be a good setup for a slab side as well. |

Any chance we can get them hosted on flicker or photobucket? I won't be doing the windowslive thing just to view these...how rediculous it is they require you to register..

I frankly don't have the time or energy to struggle with the restrictions on downloading pictures on ClubCobra. I would be more than happy to forward the pictures to you and if you can post them that would be great. Send me a private e-mail of your e-mail address and I will send you the pictures.

I think Peter may have understimated the demand for this car. I can certainly see the demand at my house for one in the garage.

I have always said, slabside cars will be very desirable as 427's become the norm. |

CSX2085. Do a search on the chassis number. You'll probably find it's Rangoon Red.Larry

 Larry
 Rangoon is more orange.
3020 is Rangoon. 2085 is deeper blood red.
 Have spent time with both.
